So far the largest issue I've seen is people who have windows 10 have to battle past the dlc just to get it installed and working but that's a server issue that beamdog shouldn't take long to sort out

elgils: Can someone tell me if it's possible to use a save from the original with an Enhanced Edition ?
avatar
Hickory: No, it's not.
It actually is - you have to do a simple hex edit of one of the files in the respective savegame folder and then copy the folder to the EE main save folder - just do a bit of googling and follow the instructions someone posted on the Steam forums. I just did this myself with my final save from the original BG an hour ago (in order to play SoD eventually; got the EEs from the Insomnia sale), and it was very easy and worked perfectly. No guarantees, of course, because every machine is different, but it worked for me without any hassle. As far as I can tell, everything has been imported, including weapon proficiency points (this appears to have been an issue for some users who tried the same method).

Right. So it's not.

Well, let me simply quote Obi-Wan in ROTJ: "So, what I told you was true... from a certain point of view." ;)

Edit: It was a veeery simple edit. Even I could download a hex editor and do it.

Yeah, completely comparable situations... Because I totally want to sell something here.

You know what: I just tried to be helpful because I had been asking myself exactly the same question as the OP; I found a solution and pointed it out to someone who was in the same situation, clearly indicating that the solution worked for me and that there is no guarantee that it would work for someone else (you may have skipped that bit).

If the aim of your adroit comments is to drive away from these forums people who want to be constructive and helpful, then rest assured that you were successful: for I will certainly not return to this thread, neither for posting nor for reading.
I dont know. I find i cant play baldurs gate 2 anymore. You are too high level and the combat takes too long. Which game is dragonspear more like Bg1 (which i love) or bg2 (which i dont like anymore) ?
Simply buy it!

In the end, the more popular the game is, the more we can see RPG this quality coming to the market, like PIllars of Eternity, and Divinity; Original Sin.

And maybe, Wizard of the Coast will ask Beamdog to do BG3 in the long term.

[Sigh, another sensitive soul]

What you were doing is precisely what my metaphor pointed out. You were selling your 'solution', which is not a solution, since the poster is using BGT, and everything changes in BGT. Please read thoroughly before tossing accusations.

Neither, but closer to BG2.

I really hope not.

Why not!

All story element must be validated before being final.

As for the game itself, stop living in the past and embrace the EE :) lol

That has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

I think Beamdog should prove themselves capable of making a good CRPG before we should talk about them making a Baldur's Gate 3. The Enhanced Editions are what they are, but Siege of Dragonspear is the first real game these guys are making and I don't think there's any sort of guarantee that it will be amazing. Yeah, they have some ex-Bioware people and had Chris Avellone look over the script, but it's such a weird thing by its very nature that I'd be cautious before giving it a rubber stamp of quality. Wait for it to come out before going that far.
True!

Nothing guarantee the quality of the game.

But some of the best talent are on this team, trouble is there a so small, and Canadian, they can't do much.

They were able to work with the old code of the original game, recode it for newer machine.

SoD is their own game, not a remake. It could fail, but I doubt, since Wizard overlook the project closely.

I will buy the game so them, and other publisher, wants more crpg on the market.

Best example, adventure game are more popular than ever, even the point n click style, after being out of the market for a decade.
Dee on Beamdog forum about a GOG release

GOG is still a little bit in limbo. I can say with reasonable certainty that SoD will not be available on GOG on March 31.

So GOG do something about this!

Why is this GOG's fault? There has been months and months for Beamdog to iron out release schedules.
