I just purchased BG1 and an using the widescreen mod and when I start the game it starts in the upper left corner of the screen and stays that way all thru the char creation screen but when the actual gameplay starts it goes fullscreen at 1920x1200. Also when in game and selecting journal for example it goes back to the small box on the left.
Are there any fixes for this?
Are you playing Vanilla BG1, or have you instaled it using EasyTuTu?

In the first case, this behavior is normal (though not pretty), as the BG1 engine does not support anything else but 640x480. The "breaks apart" when using the widescreen mod. In the second case, it's not normal. Your GUI should be normal... I'd recommend to reïnstall, and install the Widescreen mod as the very last.

To fix the problem with Vanilla BG1, I've often seen this GUI replacement mentioned, but I've never tried it myself:

Thanks!
I guess I will try an reinstall then add EasyTuTu then the widescreen patch. What exactly does EasyTuTu do? Will it make the graphics any better? Or is it just for playing BG1 and 2 seamlessly?

Yes, it makes the graphics better. Easy TuTu is for playing BG1 (only) in the BG2 engine. For playing BG1 and 2 seamlessly, you want BGT. Remember that when you install either BGT or TuTu you must have a completely clean BG1 installation... no mods whatsoever.
This is what ive done so far.....
Installed BG1...installed EasyTuTU.....installed the green water fix.....then installed the widescreen mod to the TuTu folder and im getting an error and its not installing.
Am I doing things out of order or does the widescreen mod need to be installed somewhere else?
What error?
The error is as follows....
ERROR Installing {for the original Infinity engine<Choose this!> ] rolling back to a previous state
Will uninstall 0 files for Widescreen.TP2component 0.
Uninstalled 0 files for Widescreen.TP2component 0.
Error Failure "Exe patching failed

It allows me to put in install component in for the original Infinity engine as well as the language and then the resolution co-ordinates.

Do I need to apply the widescreen patch to vanilla BG1 as well as the TuTu files?
I assume as I posted in an earlier post I installed everything in the correct order?
BG1> TuTU.>Green Water fix>Widescreen mod..

Where have you installed BG1 to? By that error ("Exe patching failed"), it looks like you have installed to Program Files, a protected area for Windows. Never install any game to the Program Files folder. Uninstall and re-install to somewhere like C:\Games\GOG\Baldur's Gate\
BG1 is installed to Local Disk {C:}>Baldurs Gate....... in its own folder and not in the program files. As is TuTu.
I am trying to apply the widescreen fix to TuTu when I receive that error.
Thanks!
So, reading your previous post again, the installer gets to the point where it asks you for X and Y co-ordinates, and then fails. Is that correct? If so, you are entering an unsupported resolution. Read the installation instructions/readme.
Yes it allows me to add the co-ordinates then gives the error. I am trying to install the widescreen mod to Easy TuTu at a resolution of 1920x1200 which by the way if I install the widescreen mod to vanilla BG1 at 1920x1200 it works great with no errors.
I'm not sure why EasyTuTu is spitting the widescreen mod out, to be honest. However, with EasyTuTu you do not need the widescreen mod, since Baldur's Gate is now running in the BG2 engine, which means that you can unlock higher resolutions with the BGConfig.exe inside the TuTu folder. Run that and unlock the unsupported modes under 'Display'. You really don't need anything higher than 1024x768 for Baldur's Gate, because it looks damn awful.

Edit: Uninstall the Widescreen mod before you run the config, then start a new game -- don't use your old save games.

So does it matter if the widescreen mod is still installed on BG1 vanilla? Or does that matter?
Edit,,,,,
reinstalled easy tutu as per your suggestion and ran the config as per your suggestions. The problem I have now is when I get in game im getting mouse trails around the edges of the screen.
For now I will just play vanilla BG1 with the widescreen mod until I find a solution.

This may sound stupid but I assume you have BG2 installed yes? You have both 1 and 2 installed before running tutu? Right after installing tutu and before you do anything else, did you give the game a test run? Does it run okay?

Have you tried R clicking on the BG exe and selecting admin, compatibility, and disable three themes?
