So GOG BG now ships with ddrawfix and it results in a very small game window on my 1400x1050 resolution. Why does this mod disable full screen scaling?
With BGT installed it scales like expected but not vanilla.

Edit: Oh, ok. Uninstalling ddrawfix didn't change anything. It's still unscaled. I just deduced it had something to do with it since prior installations didn't have this problem.
Anyone got some idea what is causing this? I'm running Win 7 32bit and changed the compatibility tab options without success.

Check if your graphics card control applet has a setting "Scale to aspect ratio", and enable this.

Unfortunately there is no such setting. I have an Ati X1300 in my laptop, which is pretty old but more than adequate for the BG series. Btw when i install BGT the game scales like it should. No idea what is causing this.
Very strange.

I know that ATI has omitted the "Scale to aspect ratio" for a long time, but their newer drivers have it. Can you update the driver to a newer version, or at least, the newest version that works for your card?

If this is a driver problem, you should have this same problem with any game; every game using a lower resolution than that of your monitor would display in a "box", in the middle of the screen. There is no reason for the scaling to work for some games and not for others.

Because vanilla BG1 does not scale... ever. If you want a screen resolution other than 640x480 you have to install the widescreen mod.
