OK, I haven't played BG since, I don't know, 2000 or so. :)

Sarah is planning on playing the Enhanced version on her Ipad, hopefully this weekend, and that got me thinking about re-installing it. (Well, installing the GOG version for the first time!)

I see, just here on GOG, tons of content linked and stuff.

Is there something like a beginning oriented FAQ somewhere online? You know, "So: You want to play the Baldur's Gate games in 2012, a beginner's guide," or something?

I have my hardcopies of all the games - if I want to run the DRM free, GOG version, is there any way to use them to reduce the amount of content I need to D/L? Or should I just forget about them entirely?

Should I even bother with any kind of vanilla install, or just go straight to one of the "Play it all through BG2" type modified setups?

Thanks in advance, guys! GOG rocks.

Not aware of any real way to use the discs with the GOG version.

I'd check out the mod guide. At a minimum, I'd do BGTuTu just to get the engine improvments into BG1. Widescreen mod is essential to me as well as the default resolutions just don't look so great.
