alcaray: If they don't know about it, then they won't fix it. If you'd rather keep it as an issue so you can bitch about how bad GOG is, then keep it a secret from them.

Greywolf1: I don't want to "keep it as an issue", I don't "bitch about how bad GOG is", and I don't "keep it a secret from them".
Most importantly, GOG isn't "bad", rather the opposite, and I'm convinced they do decent forum monitoring, so posting on a GOG forum is not exactly useful when you want to keep something a secret from GOG.
You could argue that my two original questions were rather pointless as forum questions, because, well, what answers did I expect? To be honest, SoD has been appearing in the general category for some time, and I simply couldn't imagine that this has escaped GOG's attention for so long - but possibly it has. And the question about the price was worded badly: I was displeased that Steam gets better conditions than GOG, and should have worded my question to make this clear. Meanwhile GOG has been able to make a discount offer for SoD, too (I'm not saying because of my post :-)), not quite as good as Steam's (due to different revenue figures, I suppose), but not bad either.
As far as I'm concerned, we can end this discussion here.
Don't worry. It's always good idea to ask questions on the forums. You might get all sort of replies from trolling to confirming what you already thought but hey, that's life. Even support likes if you ask questions here first before starting to report. All is good. Even if you don't report it yourself, if you discuss it here and it's worthy of reporting then someone else will do it for you.

I thought of reporting it but restrained myself because of Beamdog and their shitty DLC. No one got hurt because of this malfunction really.

ConanTheBald: I once stumbled on exactly the same problem with another game and it got fixed right away. I suppose that experiences can differ for people.
I've never tried to report this particular failure. My experience has been that any problem with the website is beyond support's ability to fix, even when it's just some missing text that needs to be added.

alcaray: I've had really good luck with support tickets. But I don't recall ever complaining about their store. They have mainly helped me get games working that I couldn't figure out.
I've never had a support ticket fix anything. I reported a problem with the GOG gift code redemption, and was jerked around for weeks before they just stopped answering, without ever resolving the ticket or admitting that there was a problem. The closest they came to trying to fix it was to insist that it worked for the CSR, so I should try a different browser. No attempt to understand why it didn't work out of the box, or try to improve the terrible user experience.

Then there was the time I reported a problem with checkout when trying to pay for a game. They sat on the ticket for almost 2 months before responding and, again, insisted that it worked for the CSR, so there was no point investigating why it didn't work for me.

I've never tried reporting a problem with the games themselves, on the theory that fixing website issues is easy (GOG completely controls their own website) and fixing game problems is hard (they can't patch the games themselves, and sometimes the publisher is defunct, and can't patch the game either). If Support can't even fix problems on a site they control completely, what hope do they have of addressing problems in a game, when their only real options are to tell you to try rebooting or try to reinstall the game / your drivers / your OS?
Actually I wouldn't be too sure about their website. Considering in what state their ancient and nonfunctioning site is then I'd guess they once got the site from external developers. Since they don't have those devs available any longer that's why nothing gets improved in that department. Even the marketing experts and community moderators are most likely (volunteers or) freelancers who just use the site and have no clue of the functionality or how to change anything in basic html or javascript.

When you write a support ticket then it seems that at least first few rounds you are going to get replies from bots who don't even comprehend the issue you are having. Only if you persist and answer to every bot reply an actual human being is going to look into your trouble. That's still better than in Steam since Steam humans can answer you with only predetermined prewritten replies. Gog support humans at least can write their own replies. It also seems that Gogs support personel live in Poland and can contact Gog with no problem while Steam support is located somewhere in poor asian country who only contact Valve if you threaten them with legal action.

I'm not saying like Gog support would be great it's just that theirs isn't the worst. That's all.
fixed [well mostly]
