I've tried everything I can think of but when I "finish" the opening mission, as I am loading into the city the game throws a erroe ststing that it has "flatlined". I uninstalled/reinstalled but no change. I have the graphics urned to low. How the heck do I get to actually play this thing?

Been having the same problem, on two different systems even:

Not sure what the cause is, unless its got some really demanding hardware requirements.

Would like to hear from anyone running on similar hardware to see what they have setup different.

No idea of what your specs are makes this really hard to give advice. Make sure all your software is updated, that includes your drivers and operating system. You could try running sfc /scannow in cmd to clean up any errors you might have assuming you have windows. Make sure your system is in the minimum requirments range. Turn off hardware accelerated gpu scheduling if you have it on. If it's not on a ssd make sure you have it switched to slow hard drive mode. You could also try lowering civiilian count, it's a setting that is not in the graphics options so it's easy to miss but can impact performance. Other than that, you could wait for a patch or try to get a refund. Good luck.

Apparently the latest patch 1.05 might have addressed the issue. Might look into it if you still want to try.
