A friend just told me they ordered me some games from my Wishlist for Christmas using my email. Haven't got an email about it or anything. So how long does it usually take. I do get an email as I assume right?

As long as your friend used the correct e-mail address and ensured that they bought the games as gifts, you should get a mail right away. There is a chance that the e-mail went to your spam subfolder. Have you checked there as well?

If you didn't receive any e-mail so far, then you'll need to ask your friend about the order.

1) Are they sure they ticked the "gift" checkbox when making the purchase?
2) Are they sure the order was completed successfully?
3) Are they sure they sent it to your correct e-mail address?

If the answer is yes to all three, ask your friend to check their order history. They can find it by following the link below:
https://www.gog.com/en/account/settings/orders#

The gift order should be at the top of the list and should have a 20-digit code. Ask them to send it to you, and you can redeem it via the link below:

Your friend should still have access to the gift codes they purchased for you within "Orders & Settings".

Get them to copy the codes in text and send them via GOG chat in a message (and be sure it's YOUR ACCOUNT). You might have to accept a friend request from him and at least enable "friends only" in your chat settings to receive chat messages.

I suggest you do this asap. If the codes got emailed to some other random person in the world they could be on their way to redeeming the codes themselves or reselling them (if they haven't done already), and it's a pain to have to go through support to deal with that situation. You need to redeem these codes yourself and quickly.

Next time tell your friend to gift the purchases to their OWN email first and then hand over the unclaimed codes manually. You can do this, I've done it myself several times.

Yes, you'll have to wait.

Well thanks for the help. Without it we wouldn't have realized what happened.

It can take weeks to get the first response to a support ticket. Have the friend do the following:
1. Go to the orders page.
2. Click the "Ask for refund" link below the game in question, then choose "I wanted to gift this game" as the refund reason and "GOG Wallet refund (24h)". Repeat for any additional games.
3. After the refunds go through, go to the login and security page and double-check the e-mail address there is correct.
4. On the checkout page, check "Gift this order" and enter own e-mail address instead of yours. You then get the gift code, whether the e-mail arrives like it's supposed to, or from the orders page at step 1.

Thats a good idea for next time. They responded back and lifted the gift restriction in place because the account was brand new and sent the codes to me yesterday night so I got them :)

I'm happy it worked out. I'm also glad to hear support was significantly faster than usual; hopefully this is a new trend.

I just don't see how your friend could've checked the box to buy the order as a gift in the first place, if the account was new and didn't have $10 worth of purchases 3 months ago.

Anyway, enjoy your gifts!

I'm not sure how it happened either, but I have been enjoying my gifts. :) Thank you.
