ZyloxDragon: It's where the CAT goes to play.
Network adapter? Powerline adapter? Switch? Hub? Router? Printer? Nas?

Most times back in the day, it was a reference to the network card for most people in my little group. I do seem to remember having to unplug it occasionally for odd reasons. That could have been from programs I was using that I shouldn't had though.

DosFreak: This would be solved by providing the original media....
Or a backup of the original exe's and dll files, which effectively would be the original game. (minus any stupid DRM incorporated therein)

mystikmind2000: i would say it is a very good reason to keep an old computer.... that and one day when someone finally manages a virus that kills modern OS, chances are it probably wont affect very old computers!
Some years ago i wondered that too. I thought maybe we were moving too fast, and if something happened backtracking to getting the current level of tech and bootstrapping seemed like it would be a pain.

Though i'd really like to see the day when the graphine chips are available.

mystikmind2000: .... ironically, my computer hates ethernet devices. I would buy one brand of ethernet device, have issues with it, then buy a different brand, have issues with that then buy another brand.... finally better, but still occasionally does funny things.... like if i am in a game and funny stuff starts happening, all i have to do is reach over and unplug the ethernet device and suddenly the game runs normally again.... its not even an online game!!!!

teceem: What's an "ethernet device"?
An 'ethernet device' is one of the various methods of connecting different computers together.

You can easily tell when your using any of the networking devices.... that will be the time you will find yourself muttering swearwords in frustration trying to get it to work..... Networking is the biggest issue that makes me miss windows 98 the most! .... got a network problem in 98? You can easily trouble shoot it.... it will be the f---ing IP address, its always the IP address..... Got a network problem in windows 10.... hey no prob, use the network troubleshooter.... HAHAHAHAHA, OMG that's funny!!!!!!!!!!!!, no seriously, just RUN, RUN as fast as you can and dont look back, because your doomed!
