All of everything is back, plus some new stuff.

It's the incredible, the amazing, the stunning Indie Piñata Grande Finale!

Welcome to the final blowout. It's 24 hours of every deal and Pinata so far, all to bring this weeklong event to its grande conclusion. Among these exceptional offers is the return of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - now in an all-new, totally improved Unreal Engine 4 Redux edition. There's the most delicious combination of words in gaming, also known as Sunless Sea, and of course - there is a handful of completely new Piñatas so you can keep on whackin' on!

What is the Indie Piñata?
The Indie Piñata is a whacky gaming sale brought to you by Crunching Koalas and GOG.com, a weeklong celebration of diverse indie games - organised to help gamers (you) discover great indie titles without breaking the bank. Instead, we'll break the Piñata! A lot.

There's so much stuff.
There's stuff alright, with plenty of video game stuffing.
We've got a hefty selection of deals up to 80% off - all indies, all highly recommended - this includes titles like Kerbal Space Program (-33%), NEO Scavenger (-50%), Legend of Grimrock 2 (-75%), and MouseCraft (-80%), so that you can pick and choose what you play (but it's probably best to get them all just in case).

Whack your Piñata!
If you're fond of surprises, for $3 (or your local equivalent), you can grab your own 100% whackable Piñata and find a random indie wonder inside - handpicked by us and Crunching Koalas. The Piñata can include games anywhere from $9.99 to $44.99, so there's a deal (and a satisfying POP) behind every swing - and we’ll be ready to congratulate those of you who show off your discounted gains on Twitter with the hashtag #IndiePinata!

The Promo and Piñata include a completely separate batch of games, so there's plenty of variety and surprises - we'll also rotate the Promo and Piñata lineup after three days, just so that things don't get too stale. The Indie Piñata promo will last until 9/18/2015, 9:59AM GMT. Just remember - check yourself, before you whack yourself.
Batter up!

Stream watch:

It's the Indie Piñata at , as well! We’re celebrating with tons of special promo streams. [url=https://www.gog.com/news/coming_up_on_twitchtvgogcom]Check out the schedule to know what’s going on over the weekend, and follow our channel for 4-6 hours of awesome, daily gaming content!

IAmSinistar: So why did my first Piñata contain a game I already own, when there are at least two in the tracking thread that I don't own? I'm guessing "limited quantities" again, which means the above isn't strictly true. If it were I would keep trying until I got Republique, but now I suspect I could go all day and just keep getting titles I own.

Konrad: You're right. Sorry if we were being misleading with this, we'll update the FAQ with more specifics. Basically, if we want to get into the randomness-algorithm, here's roughly how it works:

The Pinata lineup is separated into timed pools with limited quantities, each pool includes more of some games and fewer of others. Theoretically, it's possible for a game to be "sold out" in one batch.

So if you're missing a game from the lineup it will be prioritised as long as there are copies left in the given batch. Basically, we did this to spread the games out evenly across the entire promo and avoid a situation in which all the best deals are gone right off the bat.
Thanks for clarifying. Do we know when the lineups/pools/batches change?
This is just one persons opinion of course, but I am not fond of "surprise" sales.

It does seem GOG has been improving them each time, but it still is not quite where it needs to be in order for one to make a reasonably safe purchase.

So what I think would help to continue to improve upon the concept is to either tie the "surprise" into either the individuals wish listed items or purchase history where they purchased individual games as opposed to bundle purchases where someone likely purchased a bunch of games simply because one or two they wanted were in a bundle with good value. If GOG wants to keep bundling games that way they should take that fact into consideration that they are often selling people and people are buying things they do not want in order to get the things they do. In fact this sale sort of embodies that model.

So if someone has wish listed and consistently bought new 3d RPGs or telltale adventures from GOG and rarely bought anything over 5 years old, then the "surprise" of paying money to get a twin stick er or an isometric RTS/RPG from 5+ years ago is not exactly a pleasant surprise. (Just an example, not my pinata)

Concept of getting a 10$+ game for 3 dollars does seem good, but not if the 10$ + game is one you know you will never play and otherwise have no use for.

So for my money I might make one stab at this type of sale dependent on how low the price is, but it is not to get a game, but moreso to keep money flowing into GOG to support all the things they do right. It might be better had it been like say a 50-75% chance to come from your own wishlist, Or based on your genre favorites from purchase history, Hopefully future incarnations of the surprise sale add something like that in.

Also time frames. This surprise sale has always been questionable for consumers. So it would have been fine for a weekend event, but to push it as a week long event seems a bit weird when the likelihood is people wont be too "Kean" on it. Just seems like it ties people up away from buying more waiting till the thing they dont want goes away.

Anyway, my 2cp, take them for what they are worth.

gandalfnho: How's the difficulty of Tales of Maj’Eyal?
It's not too hard, but it can be. It can definitely kill you and be hard at times, but, it also has an explorer mode where there aren't a limited number of lives so you can keep reincarnating as many times as you like. It's easy to learn, hard to master, and there are guides that make it a bit easier (so you know what order to go to what areas and don't just die because you didn't know, and tell you how to unlock classes,e tc..) I find it a lot of fun, and at the discount price I think is a steal, I'd definitely go for it.

ricki42: Is there a way of telling what platforms the pinatas are available on? I'm using Linux, and I don't want to get a Windows-only game.
Did you get a reply to this? I was just wondering about the same thing. Basically, does this thing detect the OS or should I stop even thinking about wasting $3?

Do we seriously have to wait 2+ more days for new deals?

This might be the most boring sale ever. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I tried the Pinata five times, but sadly every time I got games that I will never play. I really wish they were gifts instead of automatically being added to the library, since at least then I could give them away to someone who would enjoy them. Now I just have stuff I really don't want cluttering up my collection. I should have known better.

Ummm, you do know that you could choose to mark the pinatas as a gift in the checkout screen? At any rate, if you don't want them (and haven't downloaded them), contact support, select "order change (from regular to gift order)" as the problem type, explain the situation to support and you should have those games converted to giftcodes.

Zoidberg: OK, 5€ for games I already had elsewhere.

I tried, I got burned, I'll refrain from now on. :P

jamotide: They are regionally priced and you bought them haha
No, they weren't. You idiot.
