No Gods or Kings or DRM.

Update: Classic versions of Bioshock and Bioshock 2 are now available. If you already own Bioshock Remastered or Bioshock 2 Remastered, you can download classic versions directly from your GOG library.

BioShock™ and BioShock 2™ Remastered are finally available DRM-free.

The legendary shooters emerge from somewhere beyond the sea, dripping with that deliciously claustrophobic atmosphere of decay, corruption, and human ambition gone wrong.
Widely considered as the gold standard for story-driven shooters with light RPG elements, they have been remastered to feature higher resolution textures and models, director's commentary, and several other additions that ensure time will never wash them away.
Pump yourself full of plasmids, pump your enemies full of bullets, and dive right back into Rapture's beautifully rotten halls.

Mr.Mumbles: I'm still wondering why people have such an issue with the remasters. I just played the first couple hours of Bioshock, and it ran without a hitch and it looks quite good, too. *shrug*
Then you are lucky. I tried too and they crashed on me (at least the Steam versions did) also they never managed to correct the key bindings in the German localisation which should not be difficult to fix.

Themken: It would not be hard to add: "Includes both DLCs." in the description.
Judas already said that they will change the gamepage to make sure that Minerva's Den is included in BS2 as well.

swsoboleski89: I heard the "remasters" had frame issues. anyone confirm?
I had those as well when I still had my GTX960 w/2GB. I noticed those went away after turning down antisotropic filtering iirc.

I've heard they work with solid 60+ fps in Wine+dxvk on Linux.

apehater: you're right, but i think you missed my point

Ganni1987: I didn't, but as far as remasters go, they did actual work on them, I found this video today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgPAjckMGpY

I'm well aware of how old these games are and a 20€ base price may seem too much. Also don't forget they come with the DLC's which were previously sold separately.
20 bucks isnt much considering new games cost between 40 and 60. And theyre even worth 40 still anyways. Anyways, i get them together for 10 bucks before the sale ends, so its whining over nothing.

OdanUrr: Would it be too greedy of me to ask these on GOG Connect?
avatar
theslitherydeee: Not really. Considering I've bought these three times so far, it's not too much to ask not to have to buy them a fourth time.
How and why do people do that?

I tried the retail version of the 1st one and really liked it. Can't wait to try the 2nd one.

Way to go GOG! Thank you so much!

p.s. Now if you can get Mass Effect series here too, I'll probably pass out from shock (or is it BioShock??).

My gf met some of these guys once when she lived in Boston and they were in town for Pax. They asked for directions to a bar and then said "We made Bioshock, here's some swag".

Amazing! One of many I've been waiting for a long time to see here :) Thank you GOG! Oh and not to be greedy, but any news on Infinite? :) Regardless, what a great feather in GOG's cap to have both of these here!

darthspudius: Wouldn't boast until we know both versions actually work properly. The original copies were never patched to fix a very noticeable issue and the remasters were always a bit iffy. If they are fixed though, that's when we should be happy.
avatar
MarkoH01: Could you please explain? I finished both originals and never have had any issues (except from missing sound - easy fix - and gettimng part 2 to run because of Gfwl).
mentioned it earlier, the original copies have physics capped at 30 fps. The game technically runs fine but rolling objects etc look like they're stuttering. Big issue that was never officially patched. There's a mod out to fix it, you can find a great demonstration on Youtube as an example. I remember the sound issue. I had to stick a microphone in before it'd work. Why? I have no idea. lol

Gekko_Dekko: wait, but wasnt it paid dlc on steam's remaster?
avatar
TheMonkofDestiny: It still is. When the remasters were released, the remastered Minerva's Den DLC was given free to users who had it when the game(s) converted over to Steamworks off GFWL back in 2012/2013 (forget which year, exactly).
I see, thanks.

Well, now we only need borderlands franchise (or atleast 2 first games) there :D

tinyE: At this price I will probably get it anyway BUT I keep reading about how Remastered doesn't hold up to the original and that it is prone to crashing.

Can anyone verify/counter this?
I picked this up last year along with the second game. There is a problem with crashing. I ran into it almost exclusively when I tried to play with a controller. Almost any time I hit the map/hint button, it would freeze and crash. I got so frustrated that I switched over to the original version, which is a lot more stable. Then I got pissed off because I paid to play the remastered version and here I was stuck playing the original ("stuck" probably isn't the best word). I did a little digging and found out about the controller issue. So, I reinstalled the remaster and forced myself to get used to the M&K setup. I've played through it twice now without a single issue.

I would give it a try. I can't speak to any other crashing issues, if there are any. Maybe there's a community patch, but I didn't need one after I quit using a controller. It's a very pretty game. I don't think it'll blow anyone away that played the original, but its unique art style looks pretty nice on a modern system and the colors pop a lot more.
It's Monday. Home from a shitty day at work. Woke the PC from sleep mode. Launched GOG Galaxy. Noticed artwork on the winter sale page. Hmm, must be losing my mind..., art looks reminiscent of Bioshock... Nonchalantly scroll down the page. Stumbled upon the Bioshock release headline. Are my eyes playing tricks on me? HOLY F_CKING SH_T!!!!!!!!

And just like that, I was punched in the face with an unexpected rush of happiness! :D
Thank-you, GOG! You *really* made my day!
Nice that the devs released complete versions of the games here, and bothered to add the achievements that the Steam versions had.

Given that Infinite has been around... it should be getting something here too.
Thank you GOG, instabrought, now please release all 3 borderlands games with all dlc and the darkness 2 please
Amazing releases! ^_^
