My favorite? Gorky 17, of course.

The series that you know as Sea Dogs is called Corsairs in Russia and the CIS, and Sea Dogs: Caribbean Tales is Corsairs 3.

Despite the fact that the third Corsairs game was a mess, Corsairs 4 was still in development until the financial crisis of the late 2000s.

I want to say that Vendetta is Corsairs 4, which never existed. I mean, if Akella was still alive, they could license this game and sell it to a Russian-speaking audience under that name. And no one would suspect anything.

Maybe it's just me, but the influence of Sea Dogs / Corsairs on Vendetta is very well felt. Especially the implementation of naval battles remind me of this series. Naval battles and a huge bunch of bugs in the original Raven's Cry release. :D

I don't know which version of Sea Dogs: Caribbean Tales was released worldwide in those days, but in Russia and the CIS we got barely playable 0.99b on day one. But don't worry, because Vendetta is an improved and polished version of Raven's Cry. It's not the same "mess" under the new name. I know it because I played both versions.

All the other games you mentioned are slightly different. Especially Risen, which (in my humble opinion) is just a Gothic reskin. Vendetta is a brand new game that uses only the engine from Two Worlds II. It's definitely not the same Two Worlds II, where all the characters were replaced with pirates who use ships only as portals. I think you got a reference. (:

P.S. Damn. It sounds like I'm the PR manager of this project. Yo, Reality Pump, call me on my pager!

Thanks for the info. Helps hearing you enjoyed it... and how you relate it to Corsairs. (Yeah, I followed Akella pretty closely for awhile after I got into pirate games -- trying to sort through the Sea Dogs lineage. ;)

I only mention the Risen series for the pirate theme... contrary to some, that's what got me to play the series.

Yes, would like to see it show up on GOG. Found a strange listing for it on PS4 with a 2020 release date, but can't seem to find it again. Next time it hits a sale I'll probably pick it up!

Again, many thanks
- I loved Rem Michalski's The Cat Lady and Downfall (Lorelai was horrible though, and I wish I could unplay it)
-The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was beautiful (photoscans for it were made near my hometown, so it felt eerily familiar) and story was decent.
- Me and my husband had a lot of fun playing 60 seconds!, if you're looking for small light-hearted fun game, I recommend it.
- The Witcher 3 dlcs were great
- Honorable mention to >observer, I lived in Kraków for many years, so pigeon jokes were not lost on me.
- Honorable mention to Darkwood, I didn't finish it, but as much as I played it, I really liked it and I plan to go back to it before end of the year, and then I think it will become one of my favs properly.

Oh, I completely forgot to mention the console versions!

I've never heard of a possible PlayStation 4 release. I know that Raven's Cry was developed for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. I never heard about the fate of the PlayStation 3 version, but I read somewhere that the Xbox 360 version didn't pass Microsoft quality assurance, so the release was canceled.

But now, according to some weird shovelware on both consoles (like that meme horse racing game, for example), it seems that the quality standards have been lowered, so maybe we will see Vendetta on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Or even on Switch. :D
From what I see they managed to get Gorky 17 work well on Windows 10...

But my polish favorite is The Witcher (yes the first one).
I suddenly remembered another decent game - Chrome by Techland.

Does anyone know why it was removed from Steam a couple of years ago and never appeared on GOG?
Just a reminder that you can vote for Vendetta - Curse of Raven's Cry in the community wishlist (if you're interested):

Chrome & Spec Force are enemy spawning jank. So, I love 'em!

No official announcements. There's a very great deal of speculation on Steam and some disquieting retconning from Techland - only Wikipedia lists their back catalogue.
