As the title of the sale says: not just The Witcher (but also).

Different "cool stories" about how you discovered your favorite Polish games are welcome!

I would especially like to know what games are preferred by GOG staff.

***

As for me, from the "classics" I really like Gorky 17 and the original Painkiller with the Battle Out Of Hell expansion pack, and from the newer games, my guilty pleasure is Dead Island. Yeah, I know that Dying Light is more polished and has more interesting mechanics, but it lacks one important thing - a tropical island. :D

My favorite games made in Poland are the Call of Juarez series. One day I was trawling a bargain bin of PS3 games and came upon Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. A Western (set in the American West) by a Polish developer? But quickly I was sucked into the story, characters, and scenery. Yes, there were a few odd elements to the story and a few mechanics I wish had been axed, but overall I loved the game... played it twice... and bought it on PC as well! When Call of Juarez: Gunslinger released, I was "first" in the digital line to download... and think it is one of the purest "shooting gallery" games ever made. Heck, I downloaded poster images off the Techland site and framed them on my wall!

My next favorite game(s) would have to be Two Worlds II. Yes, it is janky and "broken" and can be maddening, but.... it has by far the best magic system I have ever played and a sense of adventure and exploration on par with the best (IMO). It never got old calling up a horde of skeleton warriors to do my bidding! I remember the world being locked off due to limited story progress, but somehow I got a boat and sailed around the entire map -- far from playable space -- stopping in a few places I could engage enemies but mostly sailing around and noting locations I wouldn't visit until much, much later in the story; this completely sold me on the experience.

And since I referenced Reality Pump / Topware...

... even though I haven't yet played it, I know Ravens Cry aka Vendetta Curse of the Raven will make my top 10 list when it finally releases on console. Yes, I am joking (not about the console release... 2020 on PS4!) but only partly!! ;P
From what I see in the archived mix, the only games made in Poland that I played were Witcher 1 and Two Worlds 1 and 2, and that's how I'd rank them too. Witcher 1 was good (and, apparently unusually, I enjoyed the combat, felt like it just flowed as it should), making good use of the lore and an obvious labor of love, but triggering my perfectionism and anxiety and making me give up for long stretches and feel uncomfortable due to the fact that it seemed that if I chose to do one thing I broke three others and would only realize it much later. Two Worlds 1 was rather plain if you think about it but had very enjoyable exploration, even more so on horseback, and a nice varied world, and overpowered magic, which is a plus in my book. Two Worlds 2 was the one I didn't like (as I put it in my review at the time, "fixing" almost everything that wasn’t broken in its predecessor, while doing little to nothing about what was), confined, less exploration and much worse, much less variety and actual content or motivation to go in even most places that do exist, riding quite broken and just available in the first part, poor character handling, F2P MMO-like quests, more glitches...

Edit: Since GOG breaks the Archive link, add https://www.gog.com/mix/polish_games_games_developed_in_poland_gry_polskie to https://web.archive.org/web/20180617212210/ for the archived mix.

Vendetta is a pretty decent game, I'm not joking!

Yeah, sometimes it's janky, just like Two Worlds, but it's still fun and playable. Moreover, the work that Reality Pump did to save this game from development limbo (including changing the engine) really deserves respect.

I really hope that GOG curators change their mind someday and Vendetta finally appears in the catalog!
The first Witcher and Two Worlds.
I don't get that list. I'm pretty sure a number of them weren't made in Poland.
But from that list, I guess Shadow Warrior (2013) is my favourite.
Well, now seriously, who else played Vendetta (or the first "incarnation" called Raven's Cry) and can tell something about this experience?

If you mean the sale, some are just added there for getting Polish translations, yeah.
The Witcher 1.
My favorite is Painkiller, it's also the only one I played. I was thinking about returning to it, but after playing DUSK, it would be hard. I think that game has better movement mechanics. At least Painkiller has more inspired weapons.
All the Witcher games (yes a shock I know lmao)

Wow, I completely forgot that Flying Wild Hog is from Poland.

Shadow Warrior reboot ia also one of my favorites, especially the second game. Shadow Warrior (2013) was good too, but a little bit boring for me at the end.
that crappy lion game, lol
The Witcher games of course...

Dying Light is pretty amazing.

The Cat Lady (didn't know this was Polish) is probably the best game about depression.

This War of Mine is a brilliant anti-war game.

Two Worlds 2 was pretty good (it has its flaws). Amazing soundtrack!

You're the second person to tell me that lately!

After I played Two Worlds II (I stopped playing Skyrim to play Two Worlds II BTW), I became obsessed with Reality Pump (and Topware) -- closely following the development of Raven's Cry from Octane Games to the takeover of development by Reality Pump -- and hearing there would be a PS4 release, I was excited. Then it released and was savaged by critics. And with the number of severe issues, Reality Pump looked pretty bad... and I slowly lost interest. When Vendetta released (and subsequently rarely went on sale), I just couldn't get enough interest to purchase... although I would have if it ever released on console or here on GOG. Anyway...

Could you tell me a little more about your experience with Vendetta? I love the Sea Dogs series, Risen series, and Black Flag... would love to hear more (and get into another pirate game)!
