Hi all,

I'm looking for games to play that won't frustrate me. Is there a certain genre I should be looking at? I've found most games make me really mad like shooters (Unreal, Quake, etc), platformers (Sonic, Mario, etc.), racing games (one I used to play back in the day was Revolt), and RPG's like Diablo/Sacred/etc. What are some games I can look into that are enjoyable and won't frustrate me?
Have you tried turn-based games? (Whether RPGs, tactics games, strategy games, or otherwise.) Those might give you more time in which to consider what actions to take, or even to walk away for a while if frustration starts to develop.
Walking simulators, point and click adventure games, fighting games with a decent single-player setup maybe?

The answer is in your question: try playing games that aren't "real-time action games".
It would be easier to give you suggestions if you told us why games tend to frustrate you. If we don't know what pisses you off, how are we supposed to suggest anything that might be to your liking?

But as some previous poster said, check out turn-based strategy. Civilization or King's Bounty might be a good start.

I would have suggested the same things. Also, maybe stay away from games with any kind of time limit gameplay.

Adventure games like Pajama Sam (which is on sale!), especially since they're made for kids and even if you get stuck you can look on YouTube for a walkthrough?

http://blupi.org/ free! - Speedy Blupi 1 and 2 are platformers also made for kids and aren't too tough.

Other than that, maybe you need to look into if you have an anger disorder. Or find more passive forms of entertainment since most games are meant to be a challenge.

Mainly because I hate losing/dying. I also feel like I'm "in the moment" when I play these games.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition (1 and 2) can be played in a setting called "story mode" where it's almost impossible to lose. You could keep an eye out for games where you can change the difficulty setting.

Point & click adventure games like Monkey Island and so on would also work, you can't lose in those games. Especially not with a guide/walkthrough.

I already know I have anger issues and video games attribute to it, which is why I'm looking for other forms of enterainment. If you don't mind me asking, what are some passive forms of "entertainment" I can do?

Movies and books seem like the obvious choices (perhaps too obvious).

As far as games, is it "Game Over" type events that frustrate you, or is it setbacks, or is it surprises that you weren't prepared for (which may or may not become problematic)?

Hmmm depends. I know a number of rogue-likes that infuriate me every time i die. Although having added a more generous experience addon for ToME has made it so i got to level 30+ finally... haven't beaten the game yet but i'm almost too strong too...

Card games? Not too many of that option.

Rebel Galaxy perhaps? Once you get into it you can work on a lot of trading and upgrading for quite a while, as long as you don't run into pirates you'll be fine for quite a while. And avoid contraband like live organs...

Programming games? TIS-100, Human Resource Machine, 6 Billion Humans, ExaPunk are all programming related.

If you don't mind items not touching in a puzzle way, SpaceChem and Magnum Opus are good.

Terraria maybe?

One example is Mega Man. So in that game you go through the levels, then you can die and have to start all over again. Or you play a boss and it's really intense. My hands sweat, my heart rate goes up, etc. I really get into it. And I hate if I lose. Same thing goes for other games like Castlevania and such, it's just really intense when you're going up against all these enemies and stuff. Shooters are the same way, they're really competitive when you're going against other people, and I'm really into it. Again, it's probably the whole "losing" thing that gets me going, I like to win and not lose. I'm pretty sure I feel fear when I go up against big enemies in these games, and that doesn't seem normal.

There are cheats for almost all games. No need to pass on games you might like.

Yes, I can remember when I was a kid I'd scream when I saw the "game over" sign, and I even threw my controller and broke it once.
