Hello everyone. Those of you now using Windows 10, what has your experience been as to compatibility and old games? Not only games from GOG (whether with DOSbox or otherwise) but also other old games from the Windows 95/98/2000/XP eras? Are the issues getting such things to run essentially the same as in Windows 7 64-bit (my current OS), or does Windows 10 present more difficulties?

Do let me know. Thanks in advance.

I don't have any first hand experience since I've stuck with Win7 64-bit, but I can tell you a few GoG-facts.

There are some games which have worked on Windows 7, 8 & 8.1, but are not supported (at least not yet) on Windows 10.

There are also some games which did not work on Windows 8 & 8.1 (mostly ones based on DirectDraw) which seem to work fine on 10.

However, if you want the best game compatible Windows OS, I believe that is still currently Windows 7, though that may very well change in the future once Windows 10 settles in.
I can add a little...seems AMD's early drivers for 10 have fared a bit better than NVIDIA for old game compatibility. Quite a lot of the "not yet supported" games seem to work on my system (R9 290). I'd expect this to go better eventually for NVIDIA.

As to legacy games from CD, Windows 10 has dropped older Securom scheme support. Means many games will not work out of the box which would in earlier versions of Windows with the correct tweaking.
