It was a Troika game by some of the fellows who made the Fallout series. The setting was steam punk meets Lord of the Rings. It would be awesome if we could get it on gog. It was an isometric view turn based RPG like fallout/baldurs gate with a heavy emphasis on character building and dialog.
The game made you choose between either a magick user or a technologically inclined user. As both were the bane of the other you would have to choose wisely. Even making you choose which party members you picked based off of their affinity. A magick user could not heal (or would have a severe penalty healing) a tech user and a tech user could not apply healing salves etc on a magick user.
The last time I owned the game (I have bought it several times over the years as I tend to loose discs) it was very very buggy on XP so again, it would be nice to get it patched up for Vista and offered here on gog.

I remember the game being very buggy in general. If I remember correctly it was another one of those games that was pushed out the door to meet a deadline in a beta state (*cough* Temple of Elemental Evil *cough*). I played the demo when it came out but never bought it because of the reviews. I'd definitely drop $5.99 to give it another shot though.
I have that game, but as said, it was quite buggy. Much random crashes and other oddities, thus I didn't have patience to play it through. And when I got it, friends and I decided that it is once again time to play Fallout, and this was pushed back a bit.
It is however good game in idea, I like that mixture of technology and magic, and how they reacts against each other. I was in fact thinking today that I should dig those discs and see how it play on XP, but haven't yet got chance for that (moved few weeks ago, so most of those are still in boxes somewhere :P )
Would complete nicely Fallout fan's desire to similar games here, and despite of bugs I think it would be good old game afterall :)
Played through this game (again, for the 10th time or so!) a couple of months ago. I tend to always go for the Tech path, as it's rather fun scavenging for parts to build better equipment.
Plus, Troika had a bunch of ex-Interplay people in the team, including some of those behind Fallout. That's almost a given right there to get it.
For those interested, I do suggest the massive work of 'Drog Black Tooth's' unofficial patch: http://www.rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=23720
Awesome thanks Ois I did not know about this patch. Now hopefully I can find one of my lost discs lol.
edit: Gogzilla nice avatar, Snatcher was an epic game.

Of course, I played it. :) I even translated Drog's gigantic unofficial patch into german. I love this game. It is a really great cRPG. One of the best, if not.

I've played it a bit - general consensus is that the two paths are very unbalanced - magic is far more powerful than tech.
Not a so good game but not bad, either. I have it because it was on covermount on an italian magazine. However, It'll be good to have it on GOG. More games are always a good thing :)
Arcanum is an exceptional game. I just replayed it again about a year ago and it was superb again. I still couldn't bring myself to play the tech track, though. I too heard that magic vs. tech is unbalanced.
Of course, I love Troika and miss them terribly. I'll take bugs any day, if it gets me the sophisticated gaming that Troika always provided. I prefer developers that overreach.

Yes, I did play it, Arcanum had an awesome ending, and it always gave me feeling of... mysticity, all the time. Not much games can do that. It had great story, great design and great greatness overral :D I had no problems with bugs... The only thing I don't like is how shooting anything in real-time is done

Damn, you are sharp! Yeah man, a true classic. Even Westwood's Blade Runner game didn't capture Blade Runner like Snatcher did.

In the words of a certain wise man going by the alias of DirtyDreamDesigner: "Bugs can be fixed but shitty design is forever."
This was a fun game. One of the few steam punk games. I would love to see it on here it's been a while since I've played it.
it was fun but bugged game it was
Never finished it. Got stuck in one of the castle rooms. couldn't go out. :(
Arcanum is an excellent game. I only played it this year and it already added itself to my favourite RPG list. Bugs yes, but with Drog's patch it's no more buggy than your average oldies title.
The storyline, the unique world and odd quests make for a memorable game. I'd love to see it distrubuted here, but I believe thats in VUgames court. Sierra published it. Troika is.....well RIP :(
I played as a good (with some evil choices) Mage. Combat was very easy in the end, but so what? The best RPGs all have that problem. Loved every minute of it.
