langurmonkey: Hate doesn't come out of nowhere. It's not like someone wakes one day and hates EA.

Lifthrasil: No. But while I share your mistrust of corporations, you must admit that there are worse companies than EA. Worst gaming company I would understand (though there is a strong contender for that position named Ubisoft). But worst company of the world? No. That's just ridicolous. For that, gaming is by far not important enough on a global scale. About every major financial holding company has done more damage than EA. Not to speak of BP and their likes. I think that causing major damage to the environment or plunging the world economy into a global crisis for personal gain both are bad on an entirely different scale than selling some mediocre computer games with bad DRM.
I agree that calling EA, wost company in the world is incorrect and naive. EA looks like an angel compared to a lot of the other corporations out there. EA gets a lot of shit, they don't deserve.

I found a blog that might better explain what I'm talking about.

I agree with you there. EA has been a pretty shitty company lately, but calling it the worst company in America is absurd. That's the point i was trying to make. I don't get why gaming companies are getting so much hate nowadays when there are far worse corporations out there.

That would be Capcom for me. No publisher has managed to kill it's franchises as much as Capcom.

Interesting read. It mentions in passing another pet-peeve of mine: the loss of the ability to learn from mistakes. This crucial ability seems to have vanished completely from the highest echelons. We can witness daily that the errors that lead to the economic crisis are repeated. Again and again. And the only ones blind to the dangers of the debt-based society seem to be the ones on top of it. Unfortunately that's a constant through all parties, so that our democratic system breaks down in this respect. One only has the choice between different colours of the same problem. ... I had some hope that the Pirate party here in Germany might turn out to be different and force a change in our political landscape. But as of now they seem to be paralysing themselves with internal differences. Well, time will tell if any change will come from that direction after all.
I read a few posts about Best Buy being a near-monopoly and they basically have no competitors. I'm curious if this depends on location - is Best Buy the only electronics/appliance store in your area? Near me I have Best Buy, H.H. Gregg and P.C. Richards.

Not sure how to answer that one. Obviously, they compete against the internet. One really big problem for BestBuy is the "check it out here, buy it online" syndrome. Basically, buyers get their hands-on time at the store and then go price shopping elsewhere.

Local to us, they are up against WalMart and Target for console stuff and smaller radio and TV items, cables, etc., and there are also Sears and two locally-owned appliance stores with TV and stereo stuff. Also, there are at least three car audio places.
That's a great debate thus far, but I'm out of popcorn and the disgruntled participants sadly seemed to calm down a little bit.

So let's just focus and makes things really easy for everyone to understand.

Just ask yourself a simple question:

What would GOG.com do if this would happen to them.
What would we the asshat-bullshitting-avarice-ridden community do when we see such an offer?

In any case, as already stated by many including my own most humble self, making a wrong price-offer doesn't mean the customers can get the underpriced game. That's almost a standard, EVERY company has that (or should have that) - most people see that as common sense even.
Now we all now the Internet is full of people who lack common sense, which explains the expected uproar, but then again, grab some pop-corn and enjoy the show.

Just found it in the dictonary as a fixed term:
"errors and omissions excepted [abbr.: E&OE]"
