The dark heritage of blood.

Dracula 4: Shadow of the Dragon, a contemporary tale of mystery and terror delivered in the form of an intriguing and immersive point-and-click adventure game, is available on GOG.com for only $19.99. Special offer: a copy of the preceding Dracula Trilogy comes free with every purchase!

In the ominous reaches of the Carpathian mountains a ruthless voivod ruled from the height of his throne red with blood of his enemies. Whoever met him in battle would call him a demon, or a devil. His subjects had a different name for him, though, in their tongue. They called him Dracul, the Dragon. The legend has it, that this fierce warrior renounced God and become cursed to roam the Earth forever, restless, hungry for innocent blood, and doomed never to see the light of day again. But the curse came with power growing with every century of roaming the darkness. Thus, Dracul became the embodiment of evil and darkness itself, the one that fills our hearts with fear whenever the light goes out. The Vampire, the immortal enemy of man, that hunts in the night up to this day. So the legend says. There is at least a grain of truth to every legend.

Dracula 4: Shadow of the Dragon takes the vampire lore into the modern setting. We follow Ellen Cross, a young art restorer, on her journey across Europe. In her way she's confronted with mysterious and terrifying events that will make her question everything us humans assume to know about the world. Secret societies, dark rituals, and powerful demons stand in her path. Will you dare to follow her blood-chilling story, in this atmospheric point-and-click adventure?

Immerse yourself in the twisted, dark, and dangerous world of the vampire mythos and challenge the Dark Lord of Carpathia himself! Get Dracula 4: Shadow of the Dragon for only $19.99, and receive Dracula Trilogy for free, to enjoy the complete saga. Don't miss out!

ShadowWulfe: Is the pre-order for RotT the same way?

I'll have to flutter around for a few days and see what people say about Drak4.

Thanks! I didn't scroll down far enough when I read the email. Whoops.

Timelord1963: I love the first two Dracula titles and I'm still tempted to bite while the very nice launch offer is on, as I do want to play this one as well. But if it is really just three hours then the price seems rather steep?

Leroux: The German Adventure-Treff gave it a better score (78%), even though they also stressed it's short and does not conclude its story. And apparantly the story is the strong part, because apart from praising the English voiceovers, they described the puzzles as average and easy, the minigames as annoying, the graphics as okay with only few animations, resulting in areas looking a bit lifeless and sterile, the controls as requiring getting used to, and they criticized that if you want to display hotspots you can only do so permanently, so that they are visible all the time, while if you don't, you'll probably miss a few of them and get stuck. :/
Adventure Treff also says that the game suffers from a "frequent small logic error" when it comes to its puzzles.
For example, they mention that some point Ellen needs to assemble a rope ladder when two locations forward she can easily get her hands on a perfectly good and usable one.

I wonder if it's the type of game that won't let you progress to the next location unless you finish everything you can/ need to do in the previous one.
Because if it's not, then I have to wonder how long this game would be if those "logic error" puzzles were left out.

Makes you wonder why they gave it a rating of 78%, with all these flaws they list. The story must be awesome! ;)

LOL, the further I read into that review the more I wondered where that 78% was based on.

To be fair the review concludes
The game is still recommended.
I enterpret this as
Its flaws are no deal breaker.

Roman5: Can't believe this sequel came out after so much time has passed

Also: Great offer with the free trilogy, nice going GOG
Actually, if you check Anuman Interactive website you will see they released HD versions for IPhone & IMac.....

so i'm not really surprised they did a sequel , but still.... i can't say if it's a really bad game or not..... But looks like it's an episodic game.
Thanks for this release. Well done.
I just read a review on GameBoomers and it contains a rather alarming revelation regarding the save system:

Saving -- or rather the lack of it

Want to replay any favorite parts of the game? Miss part of a cut scene because of a phone call or family interruption? Unfortunately the game doesn't allow manual saving. It has an autosave that kicks in whenever you exit the game. Restarting the game and selecting "Continue" automatically loads the autosave and will restore you to where you left off. This autosave is overwritten every time you exit the game.

What makes the save system in Dracula 4 especially confusing is that you have a Load Save button staring at you from the Main Menu. If you can load a game, surely that means you can save a game to load later. Except it doesn't, and you can't.

The game autosaves when you reach certain points, and it is these autosaves that are accessible through the "Load Game" screen. But there is no easy way to save a favorite part of the game to replay later. and the game warns you that loading any of the saves on the "Load Game" screen will overwrite your current autosave.

It doesn't help that the game doesn't include a manual or readme. At least the download I received didn't include one. I guess the tutorial was supposed to cover most things, but it never once mentioned how games were or weren't saved.
Is it just me or is this an idiotic save system?
It seems to me that the change of developer was not a good thing for the series.
Just letting you know: the offer for free Dracula Trilogy with every Dracula 4 purchase has been extended.

Just when I was getting content with passing on it the last time. The wallet's already ran away, probably hiding under the couch. If only I had a pet rat named Blob.

How long is it extended for?

Long--more than a month. That's all I can say now, really, as our Business Developments team already left for the day. They said something about the end of August, if I recall ;-)
