At votes as of this writing, "[url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxq2ztkE0eE]Dune 2000: Long Live the Fighters!" is another often requested game on GOG, especially since it seems to be a fairly uncommon PC title - last I checked on eBay and Amazon, physical copies range from around $20-40 or so (with some going for insanely high prices). Despite its myriad flaws, this game is still loved by many -- I know I love it for its simply awesome cutscenes. As of now, it's still unavailable for sale on any digital game store. Due to potential IP rights issues with Frank Herbert's estate, it may never be made available again...

So! Once again, yes, I have a sealed mint-condition physical copy, and yes, it's a rare Korean-English release of the game. And yes, it's up for grabs. (And it also works in WINE, too!)

The winner gets a BNIB sealed copy of the EA slim pack release of Dune 2000. As with my earlier Shadow Warrior, Homeworld and AvP2 physical giveaways, the winner also gets a GOG-style collection of all of the extras, patches, and add-ons that I can find. In this case, I'll also include the Gruntmods Edition, which is basically the entire game prepatched with all of the files necessary for LAN multiplayer and highres/widescreen play on modern Windows OSs.

To enter, just write a post to this thread telling me about your favorite spice (duh). Me, I absolutely love Black Pepper. I put it on just about any main course during a meal. I can't imaging eating a meal without it.

The rules are the like my previous physical GAs:

1) You must be 100+ rep to enter.
2) You can only enter on behalf of yourself. One entry per person, please.
3) You will not pay for S&H costs. (Though donations are of course welcome!)
4) Due to the nature of physical shipping, please be patient in receiving the game. You will be asked to provide a phone number*** and physical address for contact and shipping purposes.
5) Winners will be selected via random.org on the morning of Sunday, December 21st, EST, between 11 am-12 pm or so.

***The phone number is needed solely for contact purposes by my local postal service, as they insist on the sender providing a recipient's contact number for delivery purposes.

Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for participating! Good luck to all who enter!

Nice one! And a very generous giveaway. +1

I'm not in, but my current favourite spice is Chervil. I've been cooking with it a lot lately. I also recently discovered Mignonette, which is great for cooking as well. As for seasoning the finished dish, I too love a generous dose of Black Pepper, or Crushed Red Pepper if it suits the food.
First thanks for the ga, not in.

I never played the game, but I'm a fan of the movie and tv mini-series.

I wanted to read the books, but after viewing a timeline, where 10,000s of years pass inbetween a book or two, makes me think the books feel too different from one another. I could be wrong. Not that I have much time to read.

Also, about spcies, and peppers in general, if I recall correctly, I've read something along the lines of people developing an addiction to peppers.
I love eating left over chicken on sandwitch with mayo and black pepper... wow days after thanksgiving turkey sandwitch with pepper. NOM NOM.

Also, what were the reasons why gog is having problems getting the game? most likely license.
The Spice must flow!

Not in as I already own the game but I keep posting this picture in any Dune-related thread ;)
Not in but great giveaway :-)

My favorite spice is cayenne pepper. I really like spicy food and cayenne pepper has a really good taste. Of course black or white pepper is also quite good.
And of course it is not a real spice but a spice mix, different curry powder mixes can be also really tasty.
I think my favorite spice is cumin as I came to love indian food and it's the base of most curry recipes and it really gives a great flavor.
Not in, but another great giveaway (btw of Dune 2000 i think i still have my original fake CD somewhere bought from the "russians" when I didn't even knew that they were pirated)...
Speaking of insanely priced games, check the prices Star Trek Armada 2 is fetching... Now that's CRAZY.
Another fine giveaway, rampancy! My acquaintance with D2K is limited to the Gruntmods folks, which you're happily familiar with, so I won't be of any further help here. Then again, there's hardly any more assistance required ;)

I won't be entering, but I will divulge my weakness for rosemary. Like you, I tend to use it liberally - which mostly ends up ruining the dish, but I mostly don't mind. Also, I'm mostly over a recent infatuation with masala, another one that is best used sparingly :P
Here you are again!

Not in, again, but I would give you +100 if I could. What a great series of giveaways!
Not in and +1.

I have a copy of Dune 2000. Quite frankly I found it a bit hard to get into. The fact that nearly everything is tan hurts my eyes after a little while. It's basically Command and Conquer with more sand.
OOhh great giveaway!!! I read a couple of your giveaways before and like how you do them. This one I will BE IN for, however if someone expresses a more nostalgic or similar sentimental desire to have this, I will happily pull out. I love DUNE, and SPICES. I first saw the Lynch movie, then played the original video game, then read (some of) the books, then there was the mini-series, and then the movie re-release with updates. Love it all, however, I never played Dune II or Dune 2000, but with the story aspect of it all, I would love to give it a try sometime, and this is a very cool thing.

I make most of my own food (semi self-sustaining here), and love a great variety of foods so I cook with all kinds of spices all of the time so I'm able to get my tastes, but above all without question is my love for a super-spicy powder. I require hotter than standard cayenne and grow a variety of hot peppers (from jalapenos to carolina reapers), dry them, and grind them into powders of varying intensity and flavor combinations to use in food preparation. My favorite pepper is the thai dragon, a very hot and flavorful red chili type that I do have a pure-powder of for special occasions.
Not in, as I have the game, but +1. This game is awesome, I think it might have been my first exposure to C&C style RTS's. There's also OpenRA which has a Dune 2000 module for it, but I'm not sure how far along it is right now and I think they plan on making balance changes and stuff.
Great giveaway, but not in.

As for favourite spices though, I would probably have to say cinnamon. I absolutely love cinnamon, sweet or savory. Goes really well with stewed apples or pork (or both together!)
I'm also a fan of ginger, paprika, rosemary and sage.
ans I completely agree with the OP about black pepper, it's essential on practically every meal for me.
I'd like to enter. Thank you. I'm completely unfamiliar with Dune, but the books are next on my "to read" list.

As for spices, I agree about black pepper. If there's a spice I add to almost everything, it's black pepper. I pepper just about everything from soups to salads to meats to pasta. I pepper my ketchup when I have it with french fries because it might not be enough just peppering the fries alone. :)
I don't have a favorite spice but I have the habit of eating something very hot and not drinking water. Then I eat some more and run around with Berserker frenzy looking for cold water (which will be absent just when I need it) and eventually drink too much so I can't finish my meal. Does that count for...........anything?

Not in, but+1!
Not in, but awesome giveaway, rampancy! +1

He who controls the spice controls the universe!
