I was doing an inventory of my C: drive folders ready for a transition to another drive when I found that one of the largest folders in ProgramData was a Galaxy 2.0 log folder.

C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\logs

This folder is 775 MB in size and there's lots of logs in there that are 5 MB in size, is that really necessary? I imagine all of the logs are needed but having them all be 5 MB in size seems like an arbitrary value which makes me believe many might only contain a tiny amount of data.

yes and no, my log folder is just under 300 mb

so logs tell you what Galaxy did, when it did it and of course what went wrong... if you don't care about those answers then its not necessary to keep the logs

as a side point Gog Galaxy logs should only be text files and its hard to imagine a file size above 5mb unless its tracking ip addresses for updates or multiplayer

You should definitely open a support ticket, if you haven't already. My cef.log was created nearly 2 years ago and it's about 8 MB. My entire logs folder is about 360 MB.

Do you have IPv6 enabled by any chance? GOG Galaxy is known to have connectivity issues with IPv6 for many users. It's possible the log file is accumulating error messages if IPv6 is on.

the only way to get anywhere near that size would be with lots of plugins i.e, Steam, Epic etc and then you would need a LOT of linked games

but post an image please... like i said before text files are the only thing that should be in there
