Looks like it's fixed in the most recent version of the plugin.

too many login attempts" message is related to your whole network, your IP. it can happen even if your PC had no previous attempts to login but someone from your ISP networks spams login attempts.
I'm getting it occasionally just by trying to use steam in web browser. Plugin can be an issue too, but it's not the only one possible reason here.
