Can you finally fix this UAC promt for every damn thing scriptinterpreter does?
I don't have GOG installed in privileged directory and is installed in user directories with all access, so why the hell it always needs UAC prompt?

How about you separate elevation for instances where you need to install redists and make it work without admin account on just normal update.

Steam can update games without UAC prompt unless it needs to install redists, galaxy ALWAYS prompt for it. Suspicious or lazy programming?

Staff don't monitor the forums for support issues. If you haven't already done so, click the cog wheel and choose Report Issue. I've never used that bug reporting tool, so I don't know how useful it is for solving issues. You may want to open a support ticket as well.

I've seen this problem reported before, but I don't know what people are doing to trigger it. Are you running under a non-administrator Windows account?
Edit: If you're running under an administrator Windows account, I would first uninstall GOG Galaxy, then using the offline installer, install GOG Galaxy in the default location (i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\).

I have it in D:\GOG Galaxy\GalaxyClient.exe because putting anything in Program Files is asking for trouble but we agree Gog support is worthless

Yeah install GOG galaxy into UAC guarded location of program files. You're even less helpful than anyone with microsoft tag on microsoft support forums.

It's constant. I've had more than a dozen prompts from UAC asking for scriptInterpreter install permissions. Even when granted it doesn't do anything.

Additional details:
It's probably trying to use this utility to update certain games, in my case it's a game I haven't played in months (Syberia). On the gog syberia page it shows a failed to update error. This appears regardless of whether I accept the UAC prompt. When the game tries again to update, same UAC prompt and same error.

Next I'll just uninstall the game completely just to stop the prompts but I suspect that it'll just pop up when another game wants to update.

Mine started doing this today when I booted up after work. I clicked yes twice, the last time I clicked no. This thing is irritating.

I'm no expert but as far as I can tell, this happens because most platforms run the prerequisite installations and pre-game setup when you first launch the game. Meanwhile, Galaxy seems to do this as soon as the download and installation is finished, thus allowing you to immediately launch the game as soon as it's finished.

As for why it prompts UAC constantly, I'm guessing it probably has to do with the fact that it is editing game files and also likely accessing DLLs and other Windows archive files to set everything up. Again, I'm not an expert, that's just what I'm assuming.

This is lazy programming they use UAC prompt because they want to access redist updates and are not able to check if it's just an update or full install.

I want option to NOT use UAC when it's just stupid download and unzip procedure!

GOG Galaxy is currently defective by design in this regard.

There have been posts all the way back since 2012 up to this year about this issue. It would be nice to be able to get the script interpreter prompt fixed.

For those having issues with it constantly popping up when Galaxy is open, the way I solved it is when it pops up I clicked on the option that takes me to the notification settings, and I turned all the notifications off. I'd rather not have them off so I have to turn it off and on after playing a game, but it works. I'm on Windows 11.
