andreasaspenberg2: there is still games coming to windows xp through steam:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1001520/_/
that game have a release date in 2028.
tomba4: You do know that anybody can "release" anything on Steam? And almost all of those "games" are pure trash, created by kids that discover game engines for the first time, or just putting something out there for a quick cash grab.
So, a game that supposedly supports Windows XP is going to be released on a platform that cannot be run on Windows XP. In 5 years. Right. Not suspicious at all.
To be fair, GOG isn't even able to develop a working client on windows 10. So talking about other systems is pretty unrealistic.
You may or may not like Steams design decisions, but they have a working client that also runs on other platforms and makes installing and running games a pretty smooth experience. Something that GOGs eternal BETA, that was forced onto their unsuspecting users, probably will never achieve.
On top of that, they (Steam) are supporting proton development which helps creating a larger linux user base, something that is a prerequisite for ever getting native versions of future games. Of course this is not a selfless engagement, but I don't care as long as it helps. Where is GOGs support for the open-source community?
For Galaxy, we (well you, not me, I voted with my wallet a short time after Galaxy 2 was released) have tons of year old bugs that are not fixed, and desperate but unheard feature requests here in the forum.
It seems much more important to integrate unwanted things like "New store inside GOG GALAXY", well thanks but no thanks.
I would laugh if it wasn't so sad. A good idea run to shit by incompetence and a cash grabbing attitude that you normally only would expect from stores like Steam or Epic.
