XavierEstrago: As far as I'm sure, I've deleted all the system files period, when uninstalling the game. Clean slate.

Then I installed the game again, to my desktop this time. It ran the activation patch, and then put in the "DLC files", but not the whole files, I guess something that looks like it's just a placeholder, as the files are 1kb each.

Then I tried running 1.1, and it said Incomplete Files error, then I deleted those DLC files, and tried running both 1.1 and 1.2 which both give me the same error

polyorpheus: The uninstaller won't remove all the files. It will only remove the files the uninstaller was programmed to remove and that excludes all the mods.
So the steps are this?

1. Uninstall TW2 (Keep save files). Delete Any files remaining in the Install folder.
2. Reinstall TW2. *Do NOT run game*
3. Run Patch 1.1
4. Run Patch 1.2
5. Profit??

Yes?
I had to reinstall, and install the 1.1 patch before I can do the 1.2 patch.
1. Uninstall TW2 (Keep save files). Delete Any files remaining in the Install folder.
2. Reboot system
3. Reinstall TW2.
4. Run game launcher

According to the official website the game should then be auto-updated to 1.2.

If there's no active internet connection it's 1.1 first, then 1.2.

Mine doesn't patch either and I never installed any mods, so I've just stopped playing.

I might go back to it at some point in the future but I'll certainly not be buying CDP again.. what with the issues and the design choices for the game.

Bored, I have better things to do with my time than fret about this game, I really wanted it for so long, but it's just not the game I thought it's be.
Have you tried the file found in :

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Witcher 2\Downloads

That worked for me!

um, you can download the patches manually and patch manually also. that is what i did.
I must add for sake of clarification. I had the Gog version. after the reinstall and restart I patched it to 1.1 gog version and it automaticly patched it to 1.2 after 1.1 installed.

Trying a 1.2 right after fresh reinstall didn't work for me.

And I don't think it should (using the manual patch). But the official site says that the launcher is supposed to autopatch from vanilla to 1.2 now instead of day-zero-patch.

IT WAS THE DLC.

had the same problem.. i deleted the DLC files including the dzips and it worked instantly after..hope that helps :)
It's ridiculous.

You need Patch v1.1 prior to Patch v1.2.

Patch v1.1 installs Troll Trouble, which must be deleted prior to installing Patch v1.2 or it will fail.

It shouldn't be this difficult to simply install a patch.

Oh well, it's hard to complain too much seeing as CDProjectRed is giving us free DLC forever for TW2 :) Silver lining, right?

It's rare cases. It's not the usual process - mostly it'll work just fine.
Shouldn't happen nonetheless, but there's always issues... and as long as they're so easy to be solved. :-)
FIX:

1. Uninstall TW2 (Keep save files). Delete Any files remaining in the Install folder.
2. Reinstall TW2. *Do NOT run game*
3. Run Patch 1.1
4. Run Patch 1.2
