So, I'm primarily an mmo gamer, and those don't really tend to be system breakers. As such, TW2 has been a bit of a rude awakening for my poor little computers. My desktop has actually been out of order for a while and has technically been surpassed by my newer laptop, but neither handles TW2 as I want, so it's upgrade time. But it's been a while since I kept up with the hardware race, so some input would be appreciated.
The laptop, just for reference: Core i7 Q720, 4 gigs ram, Radeon Mobility HD 4650. Not doing anything with this one.
Now then, the desktop, aka "the relic":
Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93GHz, 8 gigs ram (ddr3, will be recycled in upgrade), GeForce 8800 Gts.
What I'm thinking is a gradual upgrade, as I'm a bit skint at the moment, so bang for the buck is a factor. First upgrade would be video card as that can run with the current motherboard and cpu. For this, I'm thinking GTX 560 ti.
Next would be motherboard/cpu combo. Looking at some Sandy Bridge goodies here. The i5 2500K seems to be the current value for money choice, so looking at that, can always upgrade to i7 later if they expand the gap between the two in later revisions.
So, end result: i5 2500k, 8 gigs ram, gtx 560 ti. Should I expect the game to run decently at medium to high settings, minus ubersampling, of course?
Any input appreciated, but ATI chips need not apply, I've had it with their driver team, and the only reason the laptop ended up ATI is because I got it from work.
