I didnt find any topic that could fit my issue, so im starting a new one [i hope mods wont be mad for this]

Well to start off, game runs smothly on ultra settings [without ubber sampling] and everything looks fine... except one thing.

Lets show it on example so it will be easier to understand my issue :

We have lets say a save game in Vergen in the middle of a town [lets say near tawern entrance] we load that save, run around the town 10-15 min and everything is fine, game runs in full 45-60 fps, no problems at all.

And we load the same save game next day, run around 2-3 mins and BOOM - frame rate drops down to 18-20 fps, without reason...

This is my issue, random fps drops in dirent places, no matter the settings i use, no matter what resolution i chose, they occur [in the same places mostly, but totally random, sometimes they occur, sometimes they dont]

Do you suffer froma similiar iisues ? Or i am the only one with that problem ?

for example [SPOILER ALLERT] under siege at Vergen at my forst gameplay it was normal, totally smooth, 40-50 fps durning biggest fights on the walls.
And second time i ended the game again on the Iorweth side - this siege was horrible, fps drop occured durning seccond wall assault and it stayed down that way to the very end of the whole battle for Vergen...

Any ideas whats wrong ?
Im using the newest WHQL drivers i tested the game behavior on two pc's, my own and my brother pc, on both the results are the same [fps drops occur the same way]

Do you have it too ?

this same thing happens to me in specific places like at the begining outside the tent or still in the prologue where you see Thailes.

The game is pretty smooth in those places (60fps) but sometimes when starting a new game or loading a save in those places for testing purposes the fps are of 30s. Alt Tabbing (or reloading the save) outside of the game and reentering makes the game go 60fps again in the same location.

in my case i'm using ATI so i think there's something weird with the game engine.

We're going to need some system specs in any help is to be had. Processor RAM, GPU ect

4gbs of ram
2x 5850

I know there has been trouble with ATI cards on this game.

On the sticky thread they suggest Switching to windowed mode, disabling Anti-Aliasing, Anisotropic filtering and adaptive Anti-Aliasing in the adaptive control Center.

Other than that the usual check for new drivers advise applies.

Maybe I should butt out, since I know nothing; however Crossfire maybe is an issue?

btw playing in windowed mode disables crossfire so it's not an option. Anyway it's not a big issue since alt tabing and entering the game fixes it

Well there is still the other things in the ATI control center that can be tried. I don't see anything on CDPRED's side about addressing it so it may be waiting on new drivers from ATI

On both configs, the behavior i described in the first post is the same, the same spots, equal performance behavior.
The same settings and resolution tested [ultra settings and ubber sampling off, but i tested other settings as well, including totally minimum ones ith 800/600 resolution, results are the same]

Video card drivers up to date on your computer? Edit: Hell both of them for that matter?

Yes drivers are the newest out there.
Both cards have the new WHQL drivers instaled, GTX 580 have uninstaled 3dvision just in case.

Odd, may be worth it to contact CDPRED support.

Another thing you could try is a selective startup under msconfig. See if there is any background program futzing things up.

Tested the patch 1.2 - didnt changed anything too.

I checked the background processes as well, bah i even used gamebooster to switch all not needed to test will it change anything, didnt do sadly....

I e-mailed cdp but they just said they are sorry.. to be honest i dont give a sht they are sorry, i except some pro-support not the commedy reply they are sorry...

Whenever i load this specific save there is the fps drop there, frame rate isin that save around 18-22 untill i enter the tavern and reenter the vergen.
If anobody could test it - it would be great to know, is this behavior repeats on your pcs as well [measure fps with fraps or msi afterburner or anything u use on ur machine and check wat fps you have after loading the save and how it will change after entering and getting out of the tavern]

I'm probably running a different config but sure I'll give it a shot.

Edit, sorry but it is being a pest. it's not showing in the save games list. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

Well this is the save-game from GOG version, with polish dubs and subs instaled, maybe thats the reason its not shoving on [i asume you have probably the vanilla eng version without pl dubs and subs]
