So I'm going through an insane run, I was in Act 1 and I saw that CDPR was putting out a 1.2 patch for TW2. Deciding to continue when the patch came out, I quit for the night after saving my game and exiting. I re-install today as the patch didn't work off the seperate installer and I go to play and....lo and behold: all of my insane games are marked dead.

I realize it wasn't THAT far into the game, but I'm kinda pissed that around 4-5 hours of gameplay were lost for seemingly no reason. I also cannot delete these saves from the menu using the delete key, it pops up a confirmation box but doesn't delete them, I don't know if this is somehow related.

Any ideas anyone?

You might try the suggestion in here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/witcher_2_insane_save_restore/page1

Other than that, I haven't heard of any attempts to recover an invalidated save file. If that doesn't work and you want to delete those saves, you should be able to do it manually (wasn't sure if that was a problem or you were just throwing it out there to help diagnose the problem).

The post was to 1. make people aware of said bug and ask if anyone has encountered anything like it and 2. to see if a solution was available. The fact that I also can't DELETE the saves in-game makes me think it's some sort of save error rather than a true "death" trigger, despite the fact that I have the skull on all of the saves. I'll try the suggestion though, thanks.

EDIT: It looks like that program only works if you have previous backups (unless I'm missing something). I'd never heard of the bug and I hadn't planned on cheating the system so I never made any backups :(
