TigerLord: I actually liked Oblivion and Fallout 3. Opinions vary.
Of course they vary. May be, you liked just to watch graphical engine, I don't know, because there was very little of the game itself. Oblivion was a cliche over a cliche plot and quests and idiotic balancing system. Fallout 3 had 17 quests 12 out of which were FedEx. Add there annoying unrealistic characters and they lost me as their long time customer... I have no more desire to play any of their new games.

i've heard that even placing low in sales during the holiday season is equivalent to placing high during the rest of the year, simply due to the extra volume.
cod main market is on console and it will always be console. nothing will change that. BF3 support 64 player only on pc (max on console is 32), and there are other exclusive on pc wait to be announce. choice is clear people. but i will get them both anyway.

GrimTuesday: I don't think anyone in their right mind would buy MW3 of BF3. But there are some nuts in this world. I mean, no dedicated servers. Seriously? After the backlash they got with MW2, and they STILL refuse to have them. That is the definition of not listening to your customers.

Eh? Still no dedicated servers? Really?
Dang. Oh well. I skipped out on MW2 because of that...I guess I'll also pass on MW3. *shrugs*

As for release date for TW2 for 360: I don't have a 360, but I hope it does well...maybe w/ all the big releases late this year, they should aim for 2012?

GrimTuesday: 11/11: RPG fight to the death: Skyrim vs The Witcher
Screw that. I'm for both sides. Both games are so different from each other and I think they complement each other very well.

Also, Dark Souls is probably releasing in September or maybe October. ME3 is pushed back to 2012.

amsturaro: I know the date is not confirmed yet, but I've seen some polish retailers mentioning a mid-november release for the port. If this is true it could lead to lower sales, after all we know Skyrim has a 11/11 date.
Now no matter what anyone's feelings towards Skyrim are, it's inevitable that it'll sell, and someone looking for a fantasy RPG might not want to buy 2 games at the same time.

I don't know if this date will hold, if it's a publisher imposition or whatever other reason, but I'd probably want to maximize profits on my console debut. Also getting bigger numbers might help with future endeavors in the console front.
They said on the podcast that the game would release in late summer maybe August, where did the November thing come from?

Oh I had no idea the podcast mentioned that, but I got the date from some web sources:
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2011/06/02/polish-shops-reveal-the-witcher-2-xbox-360/1
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-06-02-witcher-2-on-xbox-360-in-november

Didn't the E3 presentation include a Q4 2011 date in it?

I think that late-summer-thingy was about those 20 more EA games coming to gog.com.
For TW2 360 I think, they said no more than "aiming for late this year".

browncoat1984: Clicked on it expecting an "omg why are you proting it???" post...but I'm sure that they know about Skyrim and I'm sure Mass Effect 3 will probably release around then too.
Actually Mass Effect 3 was officially delayed to first quarter 2012 a few weeks ago.

For OP, Mass Effect 3 just proves that any game may get delayed whatever the reason is (in fact most games are delayed at some point). At one moment, a company has to set a release date no matter the possible competition. Imagine if following your advice CDPR delayed the release to January 2012 and that in a few months Bethesda announces that Skyrim is also delayed to January 2012 (as long as a game is not going gold anything is possible). Problem would be the exact same. So there's no point in trying to "evade" the competition.
COD x Battlefield isnt even a competition for "not COD fanboys". Battlefield ownage for all over COD's face. It is like comparing The Witcher 2 to Dragon Age 2.

Yeah, from the looks of it BF will stomp COD in terms of quality IMO
The tech they put into the engine alone is insane, as you can see here

Regarding W2 vs Skyrim, I think that CDProjekt is aware of the competition, and knows best what to do.

ME3 wasn't really delayed, as there never was a set release date.

Sadly as we all know quality has very little to do with what sells well a lot of the time. I expect BF3 will be a far superior game but I have very little doubt that COD will obliterate it sales wise.
