Just finished the game on Iorveth's path (tried both Phillipa and Triss options) and I wanted to discuss some of the things.

1. From the Witcher 1, I didn't remember that the Lodge was such a secret. In fact, I'm pretty sure that Triss told Garelt that she's been sent to Tameria on the Lodge's business. Is this just my faulty memory?

2. At the very end, after the encounter with Letho, there's a scene where Geralt approaches the wheel that opens the gate and there's a ladybug sits on the wheel. Geralt looks at it and there's a glow reflecting on his face, then the ladybug flies away. What does this mean? Is this some kind of a reference to Yeneffer?

3. If you save Triss, after the fight with the dragon you are told that the Council of mages has been created (as opposed to Phillipa's ending, where all of the mages get massacred). How is it so, if the kings have not signed the protocol? (the head mage agrees that without their signets they can't appoint advisers)

The Lodge's actions have never been entirely known to the outside world, and really it's all about making decisions. When they need to do something important, they do it. As it is in this case, it is away from the normal workings of the Lodge.

I think it was just some sort of artsy ending. I may be wrong, having never read the books, but I don't see anything really alluded to.

Don't really know how to answer the third one.
1. The Lodge is one of those things that were retconned for TW2, unfortunately. It's true that in TW1, the Lodge's existence was pretty much common knowledge, even if all their schemes were not.

2. People here just love discussing the ladybug at the end.

3. The creation of the Council is put on hold, but the negotiations themselves aren't turned null and void if Triss is there to testify, as they are if Nilfgaard get their way, and Letho testifies that they were all in on it. That said, it's true it's never made clear in the game... so I don't know, really. :/

The lady bug is mentioned in the Journal inside the game.
