So can anyone please post their builds for sword tree?

Right now i'm level 17, just started chapter 2, playing on normal and don't really have any trouble killing stuff with the odd mix of talents that i do have, but i love to min/max and most importantly prepare for the second play through that will be on Hard.

Right now my build is

Training:

Hardiness 2
Parrying 2
Fortitude 2
I know there are better choices then Fort probably but i didn't realize it back then.

Swordsmanship:

Position 1/2
Violence 1/2
Whirl 2
Hardy 1/2
Finesse 1/2
Invincible 1/2
Combat Acumen 1/2
Whirlwind 1/2

Alchemy:

Synthesis 1/2
with the goal of going up to Impregnate 2 before putting in Mutagens

So my main question is which skills do i max with 2 points and which ones do i leave at 1/2 in the sword tree?
And will i have enough points to go into the magic tree for a 2/2 Quen? Would that be better then going into alchemy for Impregnate 2/2?

Any suggestions and tips are welcome,
Thanks,
Rroke.

Even though you're playing mainly swordsmanship, there are still lots of different ways to build.

For instance, if I go with parry/riposte/redirect, I'd aim for as much vigor regeneration as I can get ...
Yes, that means I'll take vigor regeneration 2 over hardiness.
Also means I'll take dodge 1 and schemer 2.
And use Quen sparingly.

For a whirl build, however ... I'd probably beeline for combat acumen, whirlwind 2/2, then start on alchemy with a focus on bombs.
Quen constantly, use bombs as area crowd control, whirl to build up adrenaline, group finishers to thin the crowd.
Probably invest in riposte 1/2 for block-happy dudes.

One factor to consider, too .. is you can get to the end of two branches while investing 2/2 in your favourite skills by the end of chapter 2, and it's damn sweet.
Particularly, the combination of heliotrope and group finisher is some major kickassery.

On my first play through I took a point in all of the training before I started taking in the Swordsman tree.
I applied some mutagens, Greater Vitality, Critical Damage and strength, I think.. anyway after I started in the Swordsman tree I applied appropriate mutagens to each of those.

I did the "grind monsters thing" in Chapter 1 and was at level 22 when Chapter 2 started.
I then filled in the Swordsman tree and started taking point in the magic.
I didn't XP grind as much but finished at level 33, Rouche path.

Enhancing your skills with greater mutagens will have you one hit killing most of the weaker monsters and people, so you may not want that.
I thought there was a limit to how much you could level up per chapter - I'm only level 13 just near the end of chapter 1 and have completed every side quest that I am aware of in Flotsam. But from what I'm hearing here I should be able to "grind" for more exp before beginning the next chapter and level up a bit more?

In another thread they claim that you can hit up to level 19 in chapter one. Woodcrafter claims level 22. My guess is that somehow XP for monsters is capped per quest or quest group.

I didn't really say that well.
The first place I could level up in chapter 2 I went to level 22.
I had two skill points to use so it may be that I was on the cusp of level 20 in chapter 1 and got enough point to jump 2 levels.

Now that I think about it, I really don't know.
Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, i didnt grind or anything and i just reached level 17 by the end of chapter 1, i did finish all the quests that i could though.

So i guess since i already have Combat Acumen 1/2 and Whirlwind 1/2 i'll just go into Alchemy till i can get Impregnate 2/2, then go into Magic for Quen 2/2 and if there are any points left i'll just fill out some of the skills in Swordsmanship tree.

Would that be a strong build for Hard mode?

i'm going to be mainly focusing on using the swords and roll or block. I wont be using many bombs or Signs other then Quen and Yrden.

Thanks,
