twistedmelon5: Wait what? people have trouble with the QTE's?!?!?!?!?!? I thought they were pathetically easy.
avatar
Gidzin: The first time thru,is a little daunting because the keys flash repeatedly and you assume your suppose to kreep tapping which is not the case..I did observe as the OP stated the position on sceen!!

I had probs in beginning only because of a 24" screen and the monitor was right in my face so peripherally I was at a disadvantage. The irritation was the long cutscene I had to endure to retry(fistfight at the jail). I had tried turning down the difficulty of the QTE's in the Options but it didn't change a thing(I believe because of the cache and had to reboot for the change to take effect... I didn't cry about but certainly sympathetic towards others..

Now to my second point:

If many people were having trouble, what is the purpose of your post? ...Are you saying you are far superior to the rest and want to crow about it??? You like to rub into other peoples faces how much of a whiz you are?

Pathetic, Useless, and just plain juvenile post!!!
No. I was not bragging, nor was I claiming superiority. I merely gave an opinion.

I had no problems with fist fighing. To be honest I thought they will get harder by making longer key chains.

On the other hand I had problems with QTE during cutscenes where there is very small icon showing the mouse button to be pressed. I usually missed it first time and had to reload from save.

I don't have a console and never played on one so can't compare it to console games. I enjoyed fist fighting QTE but those embedded in cutscenes were annoying. I think developers should make clear distinction beetwen those two modes of play.

I play on normal mode and I'm in the middle of second act. Game is already too easy. I hardly have to use potions and bombs. I don't have to avoid being overrun. Prolog was much harder and gave more satisfaction from beating enemies. Even taking to account that I missed on combat mechanics at first and tried to force my way through mobs.

I guess my second run should be on hard.

I like TW2 combat more simply because it's closer to real life. You have to avoid mobs. You get more damage from behind. You have to control distance.

My only worry is TW2 is too short. At least I have got such an impression from forum posts.

1) You can adjust difficulty on the fly. No need to wait till your next playthrough to switch to Hard. That said, the game does get easier as it progresses, no matter the difficulty setting.

2) Chapters 2 and 3 are pretty different based on the side you choose, so I personally don't think a playthrough is complete until you've done both sides.
QTE's arent really hard.

But they are annoying and especially on boss fights they take out the satisfaction of knowing you defeated the boss yourself rather than using a terrible mechanic like the QTE to defeat it.

This. Instead of 'How did YOU defeat so&so?' or 'WOW I found a new way to get past badguy Z!!' it all boils down to:

Press the key when prompted FTW.
Only issue I have with QTE's is sometimes they have conversation or convo choices right after them.

I've often spammed right past a nice convo line because I'm still pressin' buttons for that QTE.

Well to be fair, the QTE is only a fraction of the boss fights even for Kayran, though I must say it caught me by surprise in my first playthrough. I was enjoying the cutscene and suddenly I have to press "space" <- frak!!!
with my 360 pad ive never failed any of the qte's.

the easiest by far are the ones for the fist fighting. i dont even need to bother saving after each fight, i just go straight into the next with max bet. sure to win.
But why, in the middle of a fight would I want to play a round of Typing Tutor? Actually, that was more challenging because you used all the keys. And about as pertinent to a fight. The game should have advertised as "arcade skills required" and many of the negative posters would have not been here because they would not have bought the game.

That's rather nicely put I must say
To be honest, the only issue I have with the QTEs is that I found them to be extremely easy, given the knowledge that it's always the WASD-keys. And I'm by no means good at QTEs (Indigo Prophecy... *shudder*).

I think that in the current state of the game, the QTEs feel more like "press button to proceed with cutscene"-prompts, if that makes any sense. They hardly give the impression that you, the player, actually execute what Geralt does on screen.
