This download has to be the most frustrating one I've ever done. I've read lots of posts here here about patch problems and run problems but nothing I can do helps. I downloaded and installed the game today but when I try the auto patcher, it says it can't find the game. When I try to use the gog patch 1.1 to 1.3, it says invalid or incomplete. Running these as admin has no effect. When I try to run the unpatched version, the launcher comes up fine but when I click launch game, it says "Use launcher to run game", lol. I have never had this many problems with a purchased game before. So, there it is, I can't run the game and can't patch, so it's useless and a waste of my money. I know this is a gog game and I have to use the gog patches, etc. If anyone has any input, please help.

It sounds like your installation is corrupt.

Uninstall it completely, then perform a clean boot and install the game, making sure to run the installation as admin.

I had same double problem, no patch, no run, but I just tried Kleetus' suggestion and reinstall patched and ran. This time it did Activation patch at end of install, which I do not think it did before. (This is different from 1.0 to 1.3 patch, which must be run separately).

ok, did what you suggested , deleted game, reinstalled as admin, game patched after installation. Since there was no 1.1 patch in my game account dl list, I used the autopatcher which patched the game to 1.3. So everything seems fine now but I have a few questions left.
Why is the download the old version and not the new version to save people the nightmare of this patching problem?
Why is this not explained before download so people know what to expect?
I love Gog but I can see people going through these issues and never coming back or purchasing from gog again. When people buy downloads, they're not going to read the forums first, so I think complete installation and patch instructions should be posted in the account section somewhere.

They won't do that until the patching is complete and no more patches are planned.

Then you should be able to download the installer of the game already patched.

The auto-patching and the patches themselves seem to have a few problems, unfortunately. You're very welcome, have fun playing.
