Hey all, I've been having troubling applying the mods from the "Baldur's gate 2 essential mods sticky" I purchased the original baldur's gate from gog.com and baldur's gate 2 from impulse. Both of these of course are websites that allow you to download the game disk free but I'm curious if they come in an already updated state or if they're different in some way because they're from different sites. I got all the mods to install correctly from the sticky after a few attempts and was just about to play when I got stuck starting the game because it wouldn't go to the configuration menu after that first time your playing this message and the configure button on the launcher wouldn't work at all. Should I just repurchase Baldur's gate 2 and ToB from GoG.com and hope that they'll be more compatible or am I missing something?

All G.O.G games come patched to the last offical version.
I don't know about Impulse. BG2 comes with TOB when you get it from G.O.G, patched to version 2.5.26498.
I would suggest you reinstall your Impulse version BG2 & TOB if it is seperate & try and start the game with no mods. Then look in the options window for the game version.

If it is not version 2.5.26498, then patch it before you mod it.

Thanks for the quick reply and the useful info! If I do need to patch BG2 should I look for an update for it's expansion and assume that will patch all of BG2 or do I have to patch SoA and ToB separately? If it's not too much to ask I think a direct link to the latest patch for both the games "or 1 if both the games patch via 1 patch".

This covers both if you have ToB installed.
But check your current version first.
I know if you try and use this patch on the already patched GOG version the game won't run.
