My problem, I have both the BG I complete & BG II complete games from GOG. I have installed the BG@ Fixit pack basicly making both games run as a unit from BG2. I have also installed the WeiDU patch along with BG1 and BG2 unfinished business.
On my XP system the games are under \Programs\Games\GOG (where the installer put them.
I also have an Windows 7 system and there the games are NOT in the Programs file.
I have put Cheats+1 in both the BG1 and BG2 Baldur.ini files under Game Options in both systems. Also in the Windows 7 system I have the Cheats=1 in the Baldur.ini found in the Virtual Store.

Nothings gets the Console to pop up. Is this combination incompatible with the console??
Try putting "Debug Mode=1" under Program options instead.
Using XP you won't have the problems later Windows have with installing to C:\Program Files\ (or any Program or Programs directory), though I've heard SP3 may cause some trouble. Microsoft's file "protections" in these directories can be a real pain.

My suggestion is to re-install to some other directory like Games\ (you'll probably have to create the directory).

What I use for BG1: Cheats=1 goes under the [Game Options] section of the .ini.
What I use for BG2: Debug Mode=1 goes under the [Program Options] section of the .ini.
I have found one problem, I used some other patch rather than the bg2_fixpack-v9, so I get to start over.

Of course to put the icing on the cake, my Windows drive has been chattering for a while and last night it died.
aardvark7, short version is it seems that you are trying to use Baldur's Gate 1 cheats in Baldur's Gate 2, trying to enable cheats as if in Baldur's Gate 1, instead use Baldur's Gate 2 cheats and methods.

Longer version. Remember with BGT even if you are paying Baldur's Gate 1 you are playing in the engine for Baldur's Gate 2, so you will have to use things for Baldur's Gate 2. You will have to enable cheats via the BG2 method and will have to use commands that work with BG2.

I hope that clears it up for you, but just incase maybe an analogy will help. Imagine adding a mod to something like Half-Life 2, let's say the mod is something that lets you play Quake in Half-Life 2. Quake console commands won't work (unless specifically added, not going into the problems of that), you would have to use console commands that Half-Life 2, or rather it's engine, understands.

I had to replace my hard drive. I reloaded BG I & II. Installed
bg2_fixpack-v9.exe
Ascension64-BGT-WeiDU-1.15
File bg1ub_v13
Unfinished Business-v19
BG2extras

I then put Cheats=1 under Game Options in the BG II .ini file and left the BG I .ini file alone.
I am happy to say its now working so my problem is solved.
