I can't seem to install BG2. I've downloaded all three files multiple times, at least twice both manually and through the GOG downloader. Each one appears to have the right file size, but the installer always reads the first BIN file (setup_baldurs_gate_2-1.bin) as corrupt. For reference, the file sizes are as follows:

setup_baldurs_gate_2.exe -
Size: 2.34 MB (2,456,790 bytes)
Size on disk: 2.34 MB (2,457,600 bytes)

setup_baldurs_gate_2-1.bin -
Size: 1.95 GB (2,097,542,912 bytes)
Size on disk: 1.95 GB (2,097,545,216 bytes)

setup_baldurs_gate_2-2.bin -
Size: 325 MB (341,565,909 bytes)
Size on disk: 325 MB (341,569,536 bytes)

I've read through a few pages of the forum, but none of the threads I've found seem to help. One thread suggested renaming the files - it had no effect. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Comparison values for each installer's file size would be very helpful - if the file sizes are identical, then maybe it's a good idea to skip the file verification.

Edit: I forgot to add that this has happened on both Windows XP Home Edition SP3 and Windows 7 Basic, and both on and off the external hard drive that currently contains my GOG files.

No matters what's your operating system or your drive - except if it has bad sectors!. If a file is corrupted, just is.

Try again and keep your PC, router, modem whatever you have, away from electromagnetic fields. Make sure your connection is stable (packet loss raises file corruption risks).

I didn't have any problem with my files, so if the problem insists, I suggest to contact GOG's support team.

The correct file size says nothing, corruption means that the hash value (a unique value calculated based on the contents of a file) doesn't match. Even if a bit in the file has altered the hash value is changed, however the file's size remains the same. I strongly recommend not to install any program using a corrupted file.

It would be helpful if someone could provide the correct hash value for each file, then, just to check. So far, I haven't succeeded in re-downloading the file fully on this computer, but I will be trying again. My connection isn't the best, though, so that might be part of the problem.

Thanks for the info.

EDIT: Never mind. Downloading again on this computer using the GOG Downloader worked. Must have been due to the state of my old hard drive on the other one.

I had the same problem and solved it by downloading the setup file with firefox instead of chrome... seems to be a browser-related issue.
I am having the same issue as the original poster.
The "solution" didnt solve anything for me, however.
Still at a loss for what to do about this corrupt stuff.
