Been watching some videos and this dice roll keeps coming up on the screen.
It looks really annoying and obtrusive to me. See attached.
Can it be turned off?
Thanks.

That only comes up when you're actually, actively making a check during a dialog interaction - and which skill you're going to roll against is called out explicitly. Like, if you want to lie to someone, the option may be: [DECEPTION] "No, I did not steal your fruit pie, a monkey snatched it...!"

Cool, I thought it might be all through combat, can it be turned off do you know?

Thanks for the reply :)

No you can't, it's part of the gameplay and the way they intended it to work in conversations.

When you walk around and do a check though you can see a dice shape on top of your party that tells you if you passed a check or not:

In combat, the only time I see dice on screen is if I get a critical hit (and then it's only a very brief animation of a d20, showing the 20 result, being cut in half before fading - maybe a second and a half of screen time).

Out of combat .... you pretty much need to see that die animation during a conversation, because sometimes it's the only way you can know if your attempt succeeded or failed.

Thank you for that!
I'm not against the dice roll per se, I would prefer it be more discrete, eg. In Solasta the dice rolls are onscreen for combat and conversation, but it's alot more discrete.
I get the idea of making it look tabletop ish, and it probably looks intrusive to me as I was watching a video with alot of dialogue, so it probably looked more intrusive that it really is.
Thanks again! :)

It is annoying and comes up a lot ('dialogue' occurs when you inspect/examine objects). I would have been much happier if they had included a 'dialogue' window in the lower right (ala Pathfinder & virutally everyone else) and allowed you to view the actual results there. The current implementation makes me wonder how much of the "X" hours of gameplay time is actually spent on the dice rolls

I just bought it, so I guess I'll see for myself.
Cheers! :)
