Hey, I was modding my BG2 game and I picked up the Item Upgrade mode from Weimer http://weidu.org/main.html and I like it for the most part. I love the idea of upgrading Kitthix, but I think he went a little overboard. I would like to get rid of the mirror image and constant webbing of opponents. Is there a program I can use to change that?

The DLTCEP (Dragon Lance Total Conversion Editor Pro)
http://www.gibberlings3.net/tools/dltcep.php
can be used to alter most aspects of the infinite-engine games (dialogues, scripts, areas, stores and it can be used to mod items too).

It's easy enough to use with a bit of experimentation.

Otherwise: Shadow Keeper (for BG 2 and Tutu/BGT games) (or Gate Keeper for BG1) can be used to edit saved games and items.

Edit as I remembered clearly that DLTCEP can indeed mod items - I used it to mod Jaheira's 'Harper-Pin' as another mod had changed her to neutral-good alignment and the pin couldn't be used (it was set up to be only used by Jaheira but since the software doesn't allow for that they just made it only usable by a half-elf, fighter-druid of true-neutral alignemnt so changing her alignment broke it).

I prefer Near Infinity for modding items, effects, and creatures.
Near Infinity can view basically all of the game files, and can edit most of them. The interface takes a little getting used to, but it's simple and effective. It's the most comprehensive editor I've ever seen, and it's generally what I use all the time. It's not great at editing WED files for areas, and you'll need separate sound/image/video editing for the ingame media, but for the vast majority of the things that you would ever want to edit (items, creatures, spells, merchants, scripts, 2DAs, projectiles, even dialog) it's more than adequate.

edit: It works on all of the IE games, too, so you don't need separate editors for different games. I never even use Shadowkeeper any more.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the responses. I tried the NI editor and it looks really cool. I tried the tutorial and everything worked well until I had to save the changes when it just said it couldn't save the changes I made. Any ideas?

I followed the tutorial and it all worked up until that point.
What is your BG install path (i.e., are you installed in 'Program Files (x86)'), and have you verified that your user profile has administrative priveleges?
