I've noticed that the half a dozen times I've been out in the wilderness in the rain, there's been a lightning strike and every time, its hit minsc but done no damage. Has anyone else noticed this or is it some mad coincidence?

Not sure if its random or not, i have same issue but not on misc acually its Jaheira that takes that punch in my party hehee and sometimes does hvy bad damage

I have had one of my party members struck once; I don't think it was minsc but I can't honestly recall to tell you the truth. I would hazard a guess that it is a coincidence.

The lightning targetting Minsc is probably random, unless it chooses a target based on a variable such as party formation.

Watch out for the 'nasty' variety that can knock characters down to half HP or kill wounded characters.

Yeah happened to me on several occasions to different characters, no Jahiera in party. Yeah it happened outside in the rain. I guess it is sort of a random funny event, probably due to wearing metal armor.
Since there is no damage, I don't see a real problem.

Checking the Bioware forums it appears to be a random event. It doesn't appear to be related to armour though as there are some who have had it hit their thief wearing leather armour or something similar.

I can't remember if it ever happened to me when I played BG1+2 a fair few years back.

As for damage, many report it does no or very little damage, but that there are some times where it does a lot of damage (maybe from a critical hit roll?). If a character is on low health then it can kill them.

Well I had it 2-3 more times after posting this and every time it hit minsc and did no damage. Frankly if any character was going to attract the weird, it'd be that loony

Perhaps it is Boo that is being struck.

Heh. My characters get struck often, and I've been playing a very goodie / goodie group. I seriously think it might be an omen (Maybe from Mystra, maybe from Talos???) programmed into the game.

I thought my game was just being weird.

I've come to fear walking in the rain. I get hit with lightning every time, but in my case, it does massive damage for half health or more.

I've had it happen several times to my party as well. I believe if your character is not wearing metal armor, it won't strike you though. It seems that way to me, anyway, as I have only one character that's wearing metal armor, and she's the one that always gets hit (the other three characters are wearing Ankheg armor, leather armor, and the mage is in robes - they never get hit).

I was just beginning playing BGT when Imoen was killed by lightning. Maybe I should turn off weather effects.
