Interesting problem.... I'm trying to transfer save games from my desktop (win7) to my netbook (xp), but can't find the saved games. Under xp, they're right in the 'saves' folder in the Baldur's Gate directory, but in Win 7, the only save I see there is the one that comes with the game (i.e. the built up party for the expansion pack). I can load the saves in the game no problem, just can't find where they're actually being saved.

Does anyone know where I can find the saves when the game is installed on Win 7?

Thanks!!
Probably somewhere in Users. You should reinstall BG1 outside your Programs folder to avoid this type of problem: http://forums.gibberlings3.net/index.php?showtopic=12988 .
Ah, right. I forgot how protective vista/7 is of the program files folder. Found the saves in users\(your user)\local\virtualstore\program files\gog\baldur's gate, for anyone else who might need to know.

Or you can just run as an administrator and avoid this. But yeah, installing to a different directory would be a good idea.
I am running Win 7 Home Prem 64 bit on my iMac.

My saved games are located at

C: - Users - My Name - AppData - Local - VirtualStore - Program Files (x86) - GOG.com - Baldurs Gate - Save

This also had the Baldur.ini file I needed to change to get the console to come up.
