Okay, I am having a lot of Directx problems (flickering, mouse trails, boxes and squares around sprites, etc.) and was told to install DirectX 9.0c and the SDK from Microsoft's website but they both fail near the end of the install and my problem persists. :(
Hi again Iconoclast , about the Sdk , the first time i download it i took the one that i had pointed out the one from june , but then i had to reinstall windows later and for some reason i could not install that one later , allways ending in the 98% or something like that , the one from February did work though http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=10084
, for some reason the thing installed both for x84 and for x64 bits i belive , i am not very good at computers but this i manage to figure out after a wile searching xD , what i did was go to , Microsoft DirectX SDK(February 2010) / Utilities / and then in both x86 and x64 in / Bin , took the aplication called - Dxclp - that is what starts the thing for me so i can take out the Hardware Acceleration in the DirecDraw tab , do it in both X86 and X64 , for some reason i have to anyways , sorry if my explanation is a bit messy but i am just a gamer with very basic computer knowledge :P , hope that one from February helps you the same it did to me :)

Good news; Even though the installation for the SDK failed, it's still on my computer and after turning off DirectDraw hardware acceleration, Baldur's Gate is working fine... Now, I fi could find a similar fix for Baldur's Gate II and Planescape, because the same fix doesn't help those two games.. :(
So Sdk February also failed to install ? for me it was only the one from july :S , anyways that fix works for me in BG , BG2 , IWD and IWD2 , ive never played planescape so can say there :P , im installing again BG2 and see if i did anything speciall , but i think i took the 3d options away as well in the game to be able to play right , if you have not done it yet , you might whant to give it a try :) , will write again after the game is installed

Edit : well not sure but in my game the aceleration 3d is ticked off in the options in hardware tab and then also in options 2d and 3d , aceleration is also ticked off , my game runs great .
