So, the town has a couple runestones to use in Durlag's Tower. Do I need to grab all of them, or is one enough?

Most of them are fakes sold to gullible tourists.
IIRC only one of them are the real thing.

The gnome peddler has two runestones. One is a forgery, the other will get you into the lower levels of Durlag's Tower. Ike has another true runestone, but you have to take his tour and buy it from him at the end of it. Other than this, I know of no other runestones for Durlag's Tower.
