Trying to install on Windows 7 SE on an Asus EEE. Once it verfies the file integrity, it acts as though it is going to the next step and then...nothing. Anyone else have trouble with this configuration?

Possibly your download was corrupted? Delete and download again.
When I run the program and check my task manager, it looks like consent.exe is hanging. It should be giving me a dialog window, but I have nothing. Do you use this configuration or are you just offering general advice?

I dunno what that is.
General advice, though I've installed GOGs on my netbook as well with no issue.
Whenever I restart following the hang, I finally get the dialog box "Too many 16 bit applications running..."

So I google this and find out I should probably be running the installer and the app in Win XP compatibility mode. So I check the Win XP SP2 compatiblity check box.

Doesn't work.

Any other ideas?

:S

Sounds like you've got some deeper issues. Sorry, I can't help.
This may sound like a stupid suggestion,
but when I ran it on my win7 it kept hanging until I tried running 3 versions of the installer (I was getting annoyed and hitting the icon repeatedly) and when I stared the 3rd the 1st started working
I can't see why the hell it worked, but it might be worth trying.
Try running the installer as an Administrator.

Right Click the installer -> Run as Administator (or something like that).
I had this exact same issue, on my Asus Eee 1001PX, but I just managed to install the game.
It's basically a trial of patience.

Like you I started the installer, got past the integrity check, and then nothing really happened. I tried a number of different things - pretty much everything suggested here - rebooting and then running the installer as the first thing, running as an admin etc.
Nothing worked.

What eventually happened was that I just started the installer with no special conditions (not as an admin) and waited for a couple of minutes. Then I lost patience, started Firefox, went to gog.com, did a little search on the Baldur's Gate forum, and as I was reading this very thread the installer popped up - after 5 or 6 minutes of waiting.

This kind of thing has happened with GOG-installers before - the wait has just never been this long.
GOG does warn Win7 users that the installer could take quite a long time to fire up due to UAC:

"Since you're using Windows 7 you need to know, that the UAC (User Account Control) scan might cause the GOG.com installer to launch with slight delay (up to few minutes). Larger files will "generate" longer delay. "

That may be all that's going on. Give it several minutes, as Aignur did. See if it works.
