Good thing SSDs are so cheap now, eh? Also, 57.91 GB is nearly the WHOLE game install. Mine is 65.3 GB, including a bunch of mods.

Besides, this is nothing new - some numbers from prior offline patches:
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.05-GOG - requires 104.804 MB of disk space.
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.06-GOG - requires 5958 MB of disk space.
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.1-GOG - requires 13.146 MB of disk space.
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.11-GOG - requires 5996 MB of disk space.
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.12-GOG - requires 260 MB of disk space.
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.2-GOG - requires 381.401 MB of disk space.
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.21-GOG - requires 6874 MB of disk space.
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.22-GOG - requires 6954 MB of disk space.
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.23-GOG - requires 7108 MB of disk space.
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.3-GOG - requires 385.658 MB of disk space.
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.5-GOG - requires 545.132 MB of disk space.
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.5.1-GOG - requires 65.858 MB of disk space.
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.5.2-GOG - requires XXX MB of disk space. (est. ~240 MB)
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.52-GOG - requires XXX MB of disk space. (est. ~12.000 MB)
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.6-GOG - requires 143.588 MB of disk space.
Cyberpunk.2077.Update.v1.61-GOG - requires 14.852 MB of disk space.

The 1.64 Hotfix offline backup installer of the entire game is 108 GB for me.

Sound about right. I've only downloaded the complete offline version at patch 1.03 - which is 103 GB - and every patch since, for more flexibility in terms of mod support.

The large filesize of the installers is because they also include every supported language files, which will be disregarded once the language choice is made during the install. I got 319 GB worth of Cyberpunk 2077 files in total, so a mere 58 GB doesn't sound so bad.

Okay, to be serious, the ~60 GB is because the patches also includes the langauge files, despite those not being utilized when playing the game. For that to be fixed, there would need to be individual patch files for every language, which would make the overall server storage requirements for every single game that much larger.

So instead, the storage requirements is passed down to each individual user.

There is also a case of generally poor coding with regard to how GoG patches are packed in general. I believe it was FitGirl (well-known game repacker) who made a statement on that, and she said the GoG offline solution compresses all the files twice, which ironically makes the file sizes go up. As for why GoG do that, I do not know.

If the issue is that you're short on disk space, GoG games are highly flexible if you need to get a bigger game drive. Just swap the drive for a bigger one, and just copy the games onto the new one actually works with GoG games. Steam games on the other hand, when I tried that back in the day, gave me nothing but trouble when I tried doing a simple copy-paste.

A separate, dedicated SSD for game installs has been recommended for a long time now, especially given the size of modern games.

it also takes ages to actually do the patch if you arn't using an ssd because it makes a copy of the game files to be modified, then does it and coppies them back.

It's actually faster just to reinstall the entire game, if your net speed is anything worth mentioning.

Heh, I just came back from vacation, started up Galaxy and watched it "update" the game with almost 60GB download. Came here to check what the hell is going on. Have they remade the whole game for some reason?

There were some massive updates yes but just brace yourself for the new patch in a couple of weeks or so.
The 2.0 is supposed to "fix" the game, so it might be even bigger download than that.
Ja chyba poczekam do dodatku i patcha 2.,0 bo nie ma sensu ściągać 56 Giga teraz by za chwilę robić to samo. W szczególności gdy się nie ma światłowodu!!!

Mirekm18:
English, please.

Not having a fibre connection just means you'll have to plan your downloads better, but is otherwise no hinderance.
I didn't get fibre until 2019 (downside of living literally "over the hills and far away", as Nightwish sings), but a slow connection speed was rarely an actual problem. And I know the feeling because I was on a 13 / 0.75 Mbps ADSL connection (no, that's not MBps) for over a decade.

Other than any large downloads (in my case, a that would be 5-6+ GB) taking overnight, and any sort of streaming was out of the question (Youtube usually went at 720p to reduce buffering), I often downloaded between 500GB and 1 TB of movies every month to keep on a separate home server. That way I could watch content in high resolution whenever I wanted, and without any sort of buffering.

Point is, it's all down to planning and how badly you want the content that you know will potentially take many hours to complete. But I do see your argument about little point in downloading a 60 GB patch now, when the 2.0 / Phantom Libery release is so close to being released.
