Currently in Cyberpunk 2077, on PC via GOG, I'm playing one of the main missions, The Heist, and heading toward the elevator. But I've noticed what seems to be a glitch in the game.

With Jackie in tow, I'm in one of the rooms, about 30m away from the elevator. It's a small room with a little counter and a computer screen. There are no guards/enemies inside the room.

The room leads, via open wall panels into another space that has a line of screens on one side and no guards to be found anywhere in plain sight nor when performing a scan. See the attached screenshot.

But, when I then try to enter that next room the game abruptly switches to combat mode, even though there are no enemies to seen. No warning in which the enemies gradually detect my presence slowly enough for me to retreat and hide. Just straight to full-on combat mode. It's as if there is a guard or two stationed just inside that entryway to the next room. But the game has rendered those enemies invisible. Yet, they are still there and see me when I unwittingly pass in their line of sight.

I know there are a number of glitches throughout this game. Is this one of them? Has anyone else here experienced this particular bug in this mission? What did you do to progress forward from here?

If you are where i think you are - and I could be wrong here, there's quite some time since I was that early in the game - there is a camera that gets you.

The guards are already on alert, and that's why you go straight to combat if you're spotted, even by a camera.

Hmm. A camera... I didn't notice one before when scanning. Maybe I missed it before. I'll try to scan again, more carefully, and see what happens.
I really could be wrong, but if it is located where I remember it, it's up and to the left as you enter into a guard room. It's where you start meeting the "armoured" soldiers, right, and not just the regular hotel guards?

I recall hearing some chattering about "surrender and you won't be harmed"-nonsense, and as I stop to listen, I get into combat because the camera is scanning my back.

It can't be scanned easily, because Ping bounces off of other scannable objects - and there aren't any nearby when you enter the room in question.

From what I remember, I only noticed the camera because I once hugged a wall for cover when "pretending to be fully immersed in the situation". There should be a middle wall in the room, with an opening on both sides, and I used Ping on a phone or some other object further down the room, which bounced back to the camera right above me that I hadn't even noticed.

I'm sorry, but I could be wrong about everything here. Damn, makes me want to start over just do check for myself now!
It's so long since last I visited Konpeki Plaza, and I haven't even done an Intelligence build on my last 2 playthroughs because it feels too OP, even on the highest difficulty.

EDIT:
From the screenshot, it should be either just above you to the left, or up to the left behind the wall in front of you.

EDIT 2:
Okay, I must have been mistaken. Checked it now (teleport codes too OP), and I find only speakers on the walls. There is an OBVIOUS camera right before you get to this room, and another to the left (beyond a closed security door) when you enter the next section. But that's all I can find.

Sorry again, then I do not know why you enter combat immediately in the section on your screenshot.

Thanks for your help, anyway. At least I have some idea of what to expect moving forward.
It could also be something as simple as a scripted event. To add tension and the sensation of the need to escape.
Have you played the game before? Just so I don't spoil anything. :)

But I will spoil this: did you get the sword from the roof top of the hotel, before jumping from the ledge?

No, I have not played the game before; it's my very first time. So, I'm trying to avoid spoilers as much as possible.

In any case, I think what you said in your most recent message is correct. It's probably just supposed to be that way. I finally managed to progress past that room, despite the game going into combat mode with no warning or logic. Seconds after the combat mode starts, a hotel guard stormed into the room and I had to kill him, guns blazing style. Jackie advanced past me into the next room (which I had not yet visited) and killed off a second guard in that room. After that, combat mode was over and I could continue quietly moving in stealth mode. (I played only a little since then, so I'm still making my way toward the elevator.)

Given the precedent set in the previous missions in the game, it still doesn't make sense that full-on combat mode would just arbitrarily be triggered, with no enemies, cameras, etc. in sight.

But, I'm overthinking it, I suppose. I'm still enjoying the game.

I see what you mean.

In that case, I fear you might not like Cyberpunk 2077. Its...logic, or lack thereof, several times throughout the game can be really frustrating.

A minor spoiler here, but if you note how Jackie is dual-wielding his pistols...if you make the right choice after the hotel (let me know if you want me to spoil it), you will get both pistols to keep later in the game. But YOU cannot dual-wield them - that mechanic is exclusive to Jackie.

Then we have crafting and upgrading of weapons. You are the only one in the whole of Night City who can upgrade your own weapons. And only you can make them Legendary tier IF you go Engineering / Crafting (need 18 points for Legendary crafting specs).

The logical alternative, to pay a weapon smith money to craft or upgrade it for you, is not possible.

Then there's the driving aspect of the game. The driving and pedestrian "AI" is so braindead, they are worse than zombies. Most times, I just drive into cars and run people down (followed by entering a store to cancel the police AI who cames after me), because they do NOT want to move when it is obvious I want to go by!

And speaking of driving, the driving physics in this game is terrible. You can drive 200 MPH into a barrier and just come to a full stop. No flipping over, and with no damage to the car (well, unless you do it like I did by mistake once, and skid into an area labeled "mine field". It didn't go so well).

And you cannot even aim your weapon at, much less hurt, main characters or children. So much for the "do anything / immersive game" they promised.

But you can have a pet cat in your apartment. So there's that at least. :)

yeah... I'm dog people. this was disappointing.

Edit: Nothing against cats. I love all animals, and it's not like I expected to keep a pet deer in the apartment. I only meant to say it's disappointing that it's -only- the cat option. No need to start a flame war here with cat lovers ;)

Dude! You can get an iguana! What more do you want? :D

Speaking of which, Erogamez...did you remember to pick up the iguana egg while you were up in the penthouse apartment? ;)

If you missed both the sword and the egg...you might want to consider reloading a save.
