Hello,
I am having issues with playing Cyberpunk 2077. I keep constantly crashing near the start-up and I believe I have figured out how I can fix a major portion of it, or at least a portion of it. I am currently on Windows 7 and am on Directx 11, but CDProjekt Red said that because Microsoft was putting Directx 12 on Windows 7, I would be able to play this game on Windows 7. Despite this, I am really struggling to find how to upgrade to Directx 12. When I search it on Google all I find are articles talking about how Directx 12 is and has come to Windows 7.

Any help would be very much appreciated
Thank you very much,
Dr. Gazooks

I had the same problem in figuring out what the hell means dx12 on win 7. Until now i found that microsoft will not realese a dx12 runtime to install on win7 so i suggest you to stay away from websites that claim that you can download dx12 from them. Devs are using dx12 dll's in order to implement somedx12 functions in a win7 64 system, so you do not need to install anything, just install the game and it "should" work. Anyhow things goes wrong for me, infact i can't even launch the game. I suspect that dx12 "support" on win 7 it is not so good. If devs had developed a dx11 version of the game in order to allow older hardware and os to run their game this mess should not happen

Yeah, my current issue is that it either crashes my driver on launch, on the main menu, or right after character creation. I have been able to get through the opening mission once and have not been able to replicate it.

microsoft is allowing dx12 in some games(like this one) for windows 7. STAY AWAY from any sight offering to let u download dx12 for win 7 because it is likely to be a virus.
shouldve used VULKAN

then again they couldnt even copy basic AI behavior from a ps2 era game

8 million preorders lmao

yes, as there were the means to run it on the old gen consoles, there would be means to make it run on win 7(dx11) and 8(Vulkan). obviously they would have been downgraded versions(as the base ps4 and x box) evidently it was a deliberate choice. probably they didn't make it in time for the release date or there is probably a strong push for PC users to upgrade hardware and operating systems, peraphs both
