TLDR: A.I. bad, car renders bad, story could’ve been better, “hello there Winnie!”

Introduction:
This game was a lot of fun but also a massive disappointment at the same time. Is it worth getting? After they patch a few things I'd say yes. Is it anything they promised? Far from it. Cyberpunk 2077 is graphically stunning but that is about it. It has a lot of issues that the Devs need to fix from the A.I., renders, and to bugs. There are also some things that they can't fix like the story, but we'll go into that later.

The A.I.:
The A.I. in the game is horrible; I've seen A.I. in Skyrim that reacts better than the A.I. I've seen in Cyberpunk 2077. First off there are a ton of duplicate NPCs wandering around the streets; I've seen 4 of the same NPC walking side by side like it was any other day. I just played it off as them being clones, to keep the immersion rolling, but it can get hard with how common it is. They also claimed that each NPC would have a "set goal" for them to do throughout the day, which isn't the case at all; in their defense though, this would've been extremely hard to do, but they shouldn't have said this, to begin with. I believe they only did that to help push more sales. Cars are basically just mindless drones going throughout the city; you can park a car in front of them and they'll stay there forever waiting for you to move it or go away. They don't drive around it, get mad, nothing. The police A.I. is also pretty disappointing. Fighting the cops is a bore and not even worth doing; the police spawn around you, feet away, and just start attacking. No police cars, no police chases, nothing. All you need to do to escape the police is run/drive away. A few may spawn around you, but they don't give chase; they are extremely easy to escape from. Once you do get five stars, all that happens is that the police that starts spawning in are now MaxTac (superhuman, cyborg police officers), and you get one-shotted. I tried fighting them a few times but couldn't do anything about it, which isn't the worst thing in the world because I would assume futuristic supersoldiers would be pretty strong, but the rest of the A.I. is a bad joke.

Car Renders:
The renders in the game is pretty bad too. I'm not talking about the NPCs in the distance spawning in or any objects. Sure, they can be kind of immersion-breaking but I'm a huge gamer and I've seen all that before; it comes with the territory. I'm talking about the "car" render distances; I'm putting, car, in quotes because it isn't actually any cars. I'm not talking about the actual cars in the game, but some weird design choice to make the world feel more alive than it is. If you're driving down a highway, or just far away from the road, you'll see what looks like badly rendered cars floating their way down the street. Yet when you come up to them, they all disappear and you're left with an empty road.

Story:
Moving on, the story is kinda one of my biggest let downs. I say 'kinda' because I did enjoy a lot of it, and I actually haven't finished the main story yet. I'm at the point of no return and have been delaying it as much as possible. The story in Act 1 seems rushed and they could've fleshed it out a lot more. Act 1 does nothing to further the story and seems like it's only there to rush you into Act 2. Act 2 is a lot better than Act 1 but that's because that's when the game really starts; Act 1 should've just been apart of the Prologue with how short it is. There also aren't a lot of choices to be made in the game, surprisingly enough, that have huge impacts. I have restarted the game three times now trying to see if I could change any outcomes on specific characters but I couldn't. No matter which choices I chose, a majority of the time outcomes were set in stone. As I said earlier, this would've been hard to implement and would've cost a lot, but then they shouldn't have promised it to begin with.

Personal Jab:
Next, I'm going to make a personal jab at CD Project Red; this isn't connected to the game at all so if you would like you can jump down to the conclusion below. You may or may not know that CD Project Red removed a certain Taiwanese game from their store to appease the CCP. There was a backlash in China because it was on sale and they jumped ship immediately. For a company that I used to praise for "standing their ground," I lost a lot of respect for them. I was disappointed with how Cyberpunk 2077 turned out, but I still tried to defend them. "Sure the game has its downsides, so does every other game. This is why you don't follow the hype and don't preorder." Yet when I saw they did that I was more annoyed than anything. Here was a company I respected going downhill fast, in just one week. You may not care about this and that's fine; that is why I said I was making a personal jab at the company.

Conclusion:
To conclude, the game isn't groundbreaking, and I'd argue it barely makes "next-generation." The A.I. is abysmal and ruins the experience. Police is a joke and is barely, arguably not at all, an aspect of the game. The car renders to make the world seem "more alive" need to be removed or be heavily edited. If I see there are a ton of cars on the road 300ish feet away from me, then they should be there. The story feels rushed at times and is nothing compared to The Witcher 3's epic. I haven't even talked about the bugs but there are plenty of them. The amount of times I needed to reload past saves is numerous and I couldn't tell you an exact number. If you have the PC to run it, I would recommend this game. It has many faults but is still fun to play. It is nothing like what was promised, but sometimes that's how the dice roll. CD Project Red has lost a lot of my, and I'm sure your, respect. They have lied, manipulated, and it's sad to see. You can see my computer specs down below if you want.

You are very kind with 7.5 / 10. I would give it 5/10 with a potential to go to 7 to 8 out of 10 if a lot of issues are patched.
