I'm not the most meticulously versed person in the realm of cyberpunk fiction, but one of my most anticipated features of the upcoming game are Easter eggs and refernces CDPR will undoubtedly make in this game. Does anyone remember the Tarantino references in The Witcher 3? Those were hilarious to me and I loved being like, "Is...did they just?" ending with me in hearty, belly-aching guffaws because of course they did.
Personally, the following are references I would love to see:
*Something from Ghost in the Shell. Everything about it fits in this universe ya goootttttta. Also, it's my favourite cyberpunk fiction of all time and yeah.
*Anything from Aeon Flux (1991). I feel like it's not given its proper credit, probably because of what they did to it in 2005 but the original still holds and it'd be cool to see it referenced.
*Blade Runner. Obviously
*Akira. If there's a questline involving a best friend taken over by a resurrected power and screaming at them as they blow up a stadium, I'd be good.
*The Matrix. This one seems inevitable (like Mr Smith himself) but I also think on the other side of the Black Wall, the Free AI have their own "Neo," because in their near infinite evolutionary potential they've figured out some way to create more AI; in essence, "have children." That's just my theory though. But I'm sure Kea-I mean, Johnny Silverhand has something to say about your arsenal needing lots of...light.
*Metropolis (1927). If you know, you know. If you don't, I encourage you to just give a shot. Classics are so for a reason.
So, does anyone have any cyberpunk genre references they're looking forward to in CP2077?
