After reading all the horror stories on 1.62, I thought I'd wait till 1.63, but now GG won't update it (I can't even check "Keep Up to Date" in the game's menu and when I try to update it fails every time. Also, tried to update manually with the Downloaded patches, and each one says it isn't made for my version of the game.

IF I have to delete and reinstall the game, is there any way to save my game to avoid loosing progress?

This is a stupid place to save game files for any game (it should be on a separate drive) but here's where they probably are. Next time you install the game manually tell it where you want your game installed. Don't install your games to C if you have multiple drives available. If you don't have a secondary drive, buy one ASAP. You can buy 1TB SSDs for 34.00 USD now (not a typo).
