For what? torrent? browsing?

It depends of what you want to do with.

Do you want strong encryption or just a simple service to web?

we could offer our opinion untill you get bored out of your mind on the subject, but the best advice is this.

What do you want the VPN for? What connections are you trying to make? How much are you willing to spend total?
with these questions answered you will answer your own question and make the best choice for your needs, that way you are comforable with your choice and will use it with confidence, vice cursing the person that made the decision for you.
I actually need help here VPN-wise...the Wii shop's ability to buy point is going down Monday. Has anyone had any luck accessing the Japanese eShop lately outside of a VPN or in country...will I need a Japanese system now or is a VPN enough?
I mean there are some Japanese WiiWare games and VCS stuff I actually want to purchase desperately. Yes, I know I can download them down the road but I'd like to show the developers and publishers my support.
I'm looking at picking up Phelios, Starblade and others on arcade, Xanadu 1 and 2 on the PC-Engine as well as "Legend Of Heroes" too just for a few. Sega's platformer and Mojipittan on WiiWare. The list goes on.

Please any luck? I have a VPN but that router doesn't show up at all on my Wii but everything else does. For some weird reason, it DOES show up on the Wii U. I don't get that, any recommendations or your positive results would help tremendously.

In all honesty...

Best bet would be to rent a cheap VPS and create your own.

All of the major (and many of the minor) VPN networks have known IP ranges. You're going to find many websites blocking you because they don't want VPN traffic on their websites.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VPN_blocking

I run a webhosting company and whenever we discover an IP range being used by a VPN that's causing problems, it usually gets blocked if the VPN service doesn't resolve the issue.

And it gets publicly outed.

Oh and you;re really not anonymous:

edit: I have a feeling that this thread is just a setup for a posting/ spam service and the url will be given to spammers and bots. First post on a gaming website from a new account and its about VPNs? Noooo..... What's next? Best home made bread recipes?

Easy Homemade Bread
2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
1/2 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
5-6 cups flour
In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water and then stir in yeast. Allow to proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam, about 5 minutes.
Mix salt and oil into the yeast. Mix in flour one cup at a time.
Knead dough for 7 minutes. Place in a well oiled bowl, and turn dough to coat. Cover with a damp cloth. Allow to rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
Punch dough down. Knead for 1 minute and divide in half. Shape into loaves and place into two greased 9×5 inch loaf pans. Allow to rise for 30 minutes, or until dough has risen 1 inch above pans.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30-40 minutes.
Cool, brush with butter and enjoy!
PIA - Private Internet Access. Its highly recommended by many out there. Service is generally good quick and NO logging.

Had a bo peep at pia and it picked me up with isp such and such in Australia and of course the wrong place as the isp's change.Tried Opera's VPN and it picked a different isp and Europe, this time no other info captured except it knew it was Opera both times. My point is I assumed it would nominate town/city in Europe but it didn't and the other thing that I wanted to verify is whether Opera was capable of fooling pia and it did.So for now I will stay with Opera's freebie as I think they now have the bugs out of it.That's it.

It really depends on what you're going to use it for.

For example, Netflix has them targeted and has them blocked:

I'm sure others do as well.

Glad PIA is one that doesn't log. When I saw them named in this article, I almost canceled my subscription.

This is like a brothel saying they won't service someone who wears a condom. I think it's stupid to block VPNs. Why, because I might access some bit of data that some company has deemed I'm not allowed to? The whole copyright law situation is completely fucked. Why sell a show's license to netflix, but only if the end user is in cambodia can they see our show.

Cuz folks like using open proxies and VPNs (edit: And TOR) to cause problems for us webhosting folks. Spam, ddos, port scans, etc.
