TrevorWilliams: I'm afraid it's no different than physical comics. There are almost always differences in content between the single issues and the collections, and the prices are random.
From what I can see it varies a lot and there is indeed no set pattern.

Some collections have added content and some don't - telling which from which can be a bit of a pain and sometimes even just working out which comics are in a collected volume can be a bit tricky (honestly why comixology can't have a more clear product description baffles me although I've a feeling they are set by the sellers and thus different publishers might vary how well they do theirs).

I'd say its best to just take each as it comes and do a quick bit of maths along with reading the descriptions. Generally collected volumes are easier because they will generally have all content plus any extra and will generally be easier to manage download wise (just one click and done to add or remove).

Individual though can get some good deals on bundle sales (like the Aspen comic sales above) but can mean that your comic list gets a little long.

Then you also get comic series (like Witchblade) where only some are collected in volumes and some are not; which just gets messy.

Deuter0s: The Books of Magic, €5.49 (194 pages) or 4 x €0.89 (198 pages). Buying the single issues is a €1.93 (35%) savings and the page count difference seems insignificant.

Black Orchid, €5.49 (157 pages) or 3 x €0.89 (153 pages). Buying the single issues is a €2.82 (51%) savings and the page count difference seems insignificant.
Thanks. Bought The Books of Magic thanks to your post.

Black Orchid is a strange one. Three issues, total $6 normal price ($3 discounted), collection is $13 and discounted to $6. Duh?

Yeah sometimes its a Doh and sometimes the "cover art without words" is a feature of a collection (esp as it tends to have all the cover arts when there are multiple ones). Or "early sketches" interviews and the like. Of course the problem is sometimes its not always clearly stated in the description .

I've not read any though Elves and Hauteville House have been on my wishlist for a while. Sadly the sale is only for the first two or so issues and they are both complete series with volumes out now so I'm more tempted to wait and get all at once or wait for volume discounts to come around

Tablet question for people who use comixology.

A little over a week ago I ordered Chinese food delivery for 2. We ate grand of course, but when I went to amazon the next week and saw/remembered they sell a tablet for less than I spent on Chinese food, my course of action seemed completely obvious.

So yesterday I loaded the comixology app on my new super cheap Fire. I haven't even had a smartphone since 2009. It's pretty cool. As some of you know, I don't have internet at my house by choice.

Should I assume that you cannot load comics in the app to read when there is no wifi available if the comic is not sold as DRM-free?

OK, cool. Thanks for the response. May eventually expand past their drm-free offerings, but that might usher in a wallet-hole I'm not quite ready to contemplate. :)
Yep, you can load as many comics into the Comixology app as will fit unto your device. DRM free or not doesn't really matter on the device.

Damn, posting on a tablet on this forum is freakingly difficult. I guess everybody answered your question by now.

If I remember correctly, you might need to have Internet connection when you restart your device to log in your Amazon account, so dont restart your KF unless you have to.

Few thoughts:

1) As said you can load up comixology and download as many comics as you want and read them offline. Some also have the option to download a PDF back-up if you so choose as well.

2) The app will only install itself and any comics to the tablets built-in memory. It won't do anything with an additionally installed memory card (unless you hack the tablet). I have heard rumour that Comixology is considering enabling an option to allow memorycard storage of comics*

3) Point 2 is a pain if you're away from wi-fi for a prolonged period of time; if you're just going out on the odd trip and have regular access then it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

4) Even though you can't get the app to install comics the app itself can be installed into and run from a memory card - but as the app itself is tiny it doesn't really give you any benefit.

*interestingly the folder in the tablet that stores the encrypted comic pages does so page by page for each comic; so you can copy and paste all the content into a storage card. So all it needs is the ap being able to read from a different address not just the root one for the tablet - one would think a very simple fix with no change to the encryption that they already use. Heck a simple redirect folder would work too; onlyit seems tablet OS don't really support that (unless you hack).
Crap. B1G1F on DC Comics Cyber Monday. Hello poorhouse.
