This game turned out to be total crap, other than having a nice horror atmosphere, whilst the gameplay and everything else about it is terrible.

No point in there being any GOG release of this DOA flop.

The Zero Punctuation review was a tad scathing.

I disagree. It's a borderline "AAA" game that may still sell well relative to other releases here. It may be worthwhile financially for GOG to release it if they're given the opportunity, especially if they can release it at an initial discount. Recent reviews on Steam have it at almost 70/100.

All the above said, admittedly I don't care about the game personally and I'm pretty sure neither of us will have our minds changed by the other.

Eh. I take ZP reviews with truckloads of salt. I watch them more for the entertainment value than the actual review part. That said, from other reviews I've read, it definitely seems to have missed the mark. *shrug*

He generally overplays the outrage for comedic effect, but his opinions and criterions seem constant enough to be sincere, and his top references are sound. So, if he awards this game the year's "third worst" place, I take it as a criticism as straight as any reviewer's...

My friend, who is into low quality shooters like Call of Duty, gave the game a 6/10.
Many seem to agree that the combat sucks and that it was more akin to a treadmill & gun based Punch Out! than anything resembling a serious entry.
I tend to favour PC Gamer reviews or RPS ones over the others out there.

A score of 79 is absolutely not something to be casually called 'rubbish' :p

I tend to prefer the collated type reviews as gathered by OpenCritic, since Metacritic is now FANDOM rubbish.

Which it appears to be leaning average with massive flaws.
From what I've seen the game seems to have an interesting story and a fun cast, but it's a dull mess gameplay-wise.
I'd rather see Dead Space 2 get here than this game.

No idea how some big reviewers are giving this game 70% or even 80%.
I still consider Callisto Protocol to be the biggest gaming disappointment of 2022, one of the few case I am happy the game has Denuvo otherwise I might have pre-ordered it.

I would go as far as said that Dead Space 3 is a much better game than Callisto, if you remake DS3 and get rid of the dumb pseudo-coop and the weapon crafting you could make a good game out of it. Callisto devs managed to have even worse ideas on their own game than EA had to kill the DS franchise, between the ridiculous combat system the lackluster level design, the stupid jump scare, it looks like a text book example on how to fail a survival horror game.

Streamers that present something that resonates with the viewer on multiple planes tend to ultimately be more biased then for example writers in service of a pretty successful writing standard
